Auto aside, Are there not already bodyguards you can have? If you hire mercenaries essentially they can be your bodyguards though I do not know how many you can have at once.

if i hired mercenaries i doubt they'd be over level 30, they'd be my level but no matter how many i have, the level of my char is not enough to defeat this other person... even if i had two others at my chars level... was hoping for dm created ones so they could hold this other person off and keep this person from just killing them and then me

Given I know this situation. Figure I might as well say. "Too afraid to take the risk, don't expose yourself" im almost confident the lvl 30 in question would agree. As for bodyguard? Unless ICly your RP requires you to remain obvious, it shouldn't be an issue.. which brings to mind. Why there is no 'disguise' scripts for this server?

Why do you need a disguise script if you can just change clothing and say "I'm in a disguise, you metagame, you die.". However on Amia I do remember this "Hood" system to where it gives you a different head, a hooded up head..I loved that even though I didn't like the server as much as Dorhal. For the bodyguards, you don't need them, make your character disguise themselves and act different, tada..you don't need the bodyguards anymore, if you ARE going to get bodyguards, try seeing that you pay a few people while a DM is on to do an event that supports your character being guarded up. Otherwise, there ARE other ways around it that you can use, I gave you an example of which I used on countless of servers, and other players used it as well just to disguise it. Remember when Alen was pretending to be Lenard something? Just do the same thing.

As reference to this. Disguising yourself is a Bluff check made against an opponets Spot check. If they succeed spot, your disguise fails. Simple as that.

The rp aspect sounds an interesting way to resolve the issue, especially if a dm on and the aggressor on hire some players who are with you.
As alwaysif you think it is ooc harrassment then send a pm to Oda or a dm.

i cant really just have players help me because they are not on all the time and if i try leaving when this person is not on they can pop up any time and fine me before i can get back to the inn. and disguising wont really work because this person will just say that they can icly sense me either way since this person is a paladin

If disguised the person can use a spot check against the other persons bluff check *quite a likeable way to resolve such a thing*, and a paladin can sense the aura of one but those auras are not fully unique, basically a Paladin can feel all sorts of evil, but not evil XY or evil Z.
Mostly those "evils" show themselves in several symptomes, either pain that goes from a dull pounding behind your eyes to an agonoizing headache to "that guy is DEFINIATLY evil".

A small exception, as long as I am right *correct me ODA if I am wrong* if the disguise is of magical nature *basically illusion magic* truesight can look through it.
One question though, what about the voice? If the voice is changed through magic can truesight look through that and is such a magical change of voice possible, and if yes, I suppose its a transformation spell?

So long

Oliver

Disguises. They are not magical unless they include either illusion subschool "Glamour" or transmutation subschool "Polymorphing". There are of course monster abilities that can coincide with the disguise ability under bluff. But disguising is actually no different than UMD "Use Magic Device". Which UMD is nothing more than parlour tricks to make others 'believe' it is real attunement or use of such items. Think of I dunno.. Criss Angel, a magician. His 'parlour tricks' are so real seeming, they are believable. So it is like a 'real' version of the "Glamour" subschool of illusion.

The art of disguise: Changing your voice by altering the pitch, forming an accent or sounding old or girlish/boyish. Eye color, alchemical/magical use to alter the eyes hue. Facial, "makeup". hair? "Fake beards and wigs" or perhaps the nature of scents.. perfume, colon, bathing~.. and of course, change of attire. Anyways, this is basicly how disguises play out, they are not magical however.. the spell truesight DOES see past this. This is not a magical reaction from the disguise skill itself but rather, the function of truesight. Truesight is just that, able to see things for what they 'really are'. Piercing darkness, magical darkness, disguises, polymorphed forms, secret doors, secret objects. Anything that could normally be seen with the eye is enhanced by divination magic to see beyond the veil of illusions. - Hope this clears things up. Smile

If you play a monster race. Especially one as downright hated by others as a Demon. You best get used to such acts, others are to RP you as a monster. If I see anyone not doing so, especially anyone good I will start dropping alignment shifts. Monster races are monster races, if your open about it best get used to hunts and shunning. I REPEAT IF YOU ARE OPEN ABOUT BEING A MONSTER AND ARE BEING HUNTED THEN IT IS YOUR OWN DOING, NO MERCS IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD PROTECT A DEMON WHO IS OPEN ABOUT BEING A DEMON. I will also repeat, any being who openly knows another is evil or a monster race that is known to be sadistic best start RPing that way. I will offer RP shifts and penalty's to those who do NOT.

Yes, this server offers monsters. But its an RP server, if you want to be around civilization you best not be as open as some of those I have seen are. Likewise, NPC's are going to treat you like PC's will.

However, that said. I will see what I can do with Mercs for you Auto.

I am going to have throw my lot in with badgers here... especially now that i know the pc your playing isn't just some random bystander

If you want to hire Mercs its all well and good (if you can convince them to work for a demon). however, if you want to play the part of an evil or monstrous pc (or both); you are going to have to either live with the rp that comes with it or play another character. The fact that your flaunting your pc's evil doesn't help the matter either. The other pc is a paliden, a holy warrior whose religious duty is to destroy evil beings. your playing a pc who is openly flaunting the fact that they are both evil AND some sort of demon. if they didn't try and pvp you then it would be bad rp on there part.

Also think of this. your pc wants to be influential both to hire mercs as well as to achieve some long term goal (conquest/corruption/whateveritis). Lets look at history at some of the worst and most evil leaders. it doesn't matter who; just pick your favorite. when they went to gain power did ANY of them get up on the podium and say "Look how evil i am! bad things are going to happen soon just you wait and see! Famine , plague , pestilence it can all be yours!" no.. they didn't... because none in there right mind would follow them.

If you want the perks you have to take the hits...

Yo man that was tight! cheers

I agree with king Badgers completely, there are it's up's and down's on whatever you play as and the Demon sure has a lot of downs in my opinion. I do not think anyone will help you if they know you are a monster. Remember that there are consequences for everything ya do, once it leaks people might..not want to help you if you're A COLD, EBIL, DEMONZ.

with my demon though icly she has never came out to say she is a demon and has never openly attacked anyone unless in self defense, she is tyring to build up a good reputation to make others -want- to help her, the only people that knows she is a demon saw it with ts or just flat out meta'd. she so far, as far as others know, has never stolen anything and never murdered anyone, she has only helped people so far

That's good to hear then. Though, still any character has the right to shun or hunt you when they find out. Now if they are finding out through Metagaming, that's different and I am going state something the Arelith DM's say all the time.

"If it isn't reported to a DM, it never happened"

Metagaming info like that is not allowed on this server last I checked. You need to tell a DM if someone is doing such. If you did tell a DM, then that DM needs to share what you talked about with other DM's so we know who to watch.

If someone is knowingly Metagaming your character, tell us. We will look into it, and if we find anything. I WILL KNOWINGLY SMITE THEM! You cannot expect us to read minds, we cant. You need to tell us when you have problems like that with others.

Send me a PM today and I will look into these people. Likewise, I see no reason then as to why you cant have a Human Bodyguard. Though you cant expect them to poof out of thin air, Auto. I will see to getting a NPC made up and helping you when I get home from College. Until then keep RP going.

Disclaimer: This DM will never smite anyone on a first time Meta incident. I will sit down with them. Look them in the eye, and state what they did wrong. While my ravenous Badgers chew and tear at his feet.

Badgers ^-^
