Book of Skills?

Post  sploenk on Tue May 14, 2013 8:03 am

Hi,
tolen
I found 3 books that boost a players skill permanantly, someone sold them to the merchant in South Chonda, i bought them and used them before i spoke to the merchant, so in fact i got my skill SPOT, DISCIPLINE and i think REFLEX boosted. I think those items shouldn't have been there, and they were probably gifts by a DM...in any case mark them books as 'stolen' so they can't be sold or something.

I'm not sure how much my skills were upgraded but I believe spot +5, discipline +5 and of reflex i'm not sure, it was the book of acrobatics or something, so feel free to demote my skills when you see fit.

Oh, i also bought my astral blade+2 in the same store, i'm lvl12 so that's fair...but who sells an astral blade +2????? Wink

cheers

These books are able to be found IG, yes they permanently boost skills, and the astral blade +2 likely was sold to the merchant by a player. The level limit applies to any gear that is not player crafted, so any item that a merchant will buy can still be sold. This is my understanding anyway from what I have been told, if any know different please correct me.

Normally, such skill books boost skill points by +2, so far I have discovered no saving throw increasing skill books, they are purely SKILL books as far as I know.

It was ME who sold them since I came across them in a dungeon I found, I picked 3 of 5 I found to sell to the trader and thereby to encourage exploration, for THESE books can be found DEEP in areas hidden and hard to find.

The book of Acrobatics does improve the skill tumble btw.

Not meant as an offensive since it is just a copy of a picture but a small facepalm because of the fact that I actually sold them.

Many thanks for reporting the bug, you know, I had not really thought about that - that a PC might use it before purchase... we will mark the books in some way to ensure they are legitimately owned by the PC before they will boost the stat.

As a reward for reporting (rather than exploiting) keep the skill boost.

Be well. Game on.
