Force RAM use for paging file! Empty Force RAM use for paging file!

after talking to oda i found that Windows prefers a paging file to ram most of the time which shortens the life of your HDD.

However useing his advice and some tinkering of my own i found a way to force ram use as a paging file and still see no speed decrease (you will likely even see your system go faster)

(Windows 7)
1. First go to the ATI homepage and download Ramdisk software. (its free unless you want the big stuff).

2. Then go to "my computer" and select "system properties"

3. select "advanced system properties"

4. select the advanced tab and click on settings in the performance box.

5. select "advanced" again

6. click on "change" in virtual memory

7. remove the paging file from your HDD and set it to use the entire ram drive you just created.

8. Restart your PC knowing your HDD will now live a longer and healthier life.

(End Notes)

I have actually used this on a 32-bit system and found that i could force the system to take 16GB rather than the theoretical maximum of 4 because it treats the addresses as HDD memory and not Ram.

I should mention that using "readyboost" on the Ramdrive has an equal effect.
