The skill enhancing books seem to have limitations.
As an example
Valerion
Level 35 Wizard
Level 5 Rouge

Intelligence 38

Weapon crafting 70
Armor crafting 70

Talents
Craft Wand
Brew Potion
Epic skill focus Weapon crafting
Epic skill focus Armor Crafting

Is unable to gain points by reading a book of the smith 1 or 2, it temporarily gains, but vanishes in the next login, although left logged out afterward for about 8 hours.
