Gear Status Indicator and Repair
I suggest maybe turning this off. I can appreciate that in real life things wear out including clothes. However the status is often in accurate and nothing is worse then you are in battle and bam your armor or weapon vanishes because it has worn out. Using the armorer is fine but can take a long time and he is not available 24/7. It would not be so bad if he was and merchants as well and more of them.
Maybe have the crafting stumps and anvils in the college repair for a fee either a flat fee for item properties or a fee based on the character's crafting skill.
It seems odd that you have the skills to get a crafting license but can not do simple repairs.

Re: Gear Status Indicator and Repair
Gentle Bump. Is the reason why gear breaks done is do to the HTF? Is it tied to that meaning fatigue? I think until the anvils and crafting logs can be used buy people to make thier own repairs even if it costs xp and gold, is much better not to have fatigue factor on gear since the status is not accurate. You can put something in an anvil or log and it will give the equipment high rating, yet if you use the rune stone lower.
It is disappointing to invest either gold to buy something or to craft something and all the sudden it goes poof.

Re: Gear Status Indicator and Repair
This is part of the orlando's system that have been trying to fix for a while...
Trouble is never got the test information I needed to see what it was doing.
But I know for fact HTF's fatigue has no effect on the armor and weapon wear and tear.
Armor dose effect Fatigue however due to sleeping in armor not being a good idea
So yeah I suppose some nice DM will pull the lever in the control room to deactivate crafting wear and tear for now.
Until I have a chance to get back to nwn and fix it.

Re: Gear Status Indicator and Repair
Feedback from that needs to be a bit more detailed, ie what is causing it to wear and tear some so quickly and not others, things like that...
Item properties,
its Crafting variables,
its gp value.
Things like that ...
Having not actually seen it function I didn't get a chance to record this, however if had guineepig who gets this effect often I could use a hb routine on them to scan and report this data as they go...
Not sure how else to get this changing information...

Might I recommend a message indicating that one's equipment is on the way out? Not too great to have gear disappear suddenly; especially when one would notice holes growing in the shoes. .
Also, there is no way to repair items which one can not trade.

Re: Gear Status Indicator and Repair
Friends,
We _could_ script this 'warning message your gear is soon to break' BUT
scripting takes a scripter's time, and we want to spend that coin very wisely,
scripted solutions require system resources - think a moment about the overhead of checking every PCs gear on behalf of the player and warning on each incidence of 'near breakage' (spam weapon wear messages anyone?)
If we do script it, we'd have to script it based on the PC's stats like wis or int so the dimmer PCs would still be victim to no warning.
In the meanwhile, as we ponder this lower priority topic, try to get in the habit of having your (wiser) PCs get their gear serviced regularly (after all the wise ones know they are putting their gear thru harsh treatment and know their lives may depend on quality gear).
From a strictly 'evil minded DM pov', if you are not checking it, why should I tell you?

The problem is you do check it but the indicators do not mesh. You may have "fixed" your item yet you use another indicator and it say no.
The indicators are rune stones, crafting anvils and crafting wood stumps. Maybe just have one indicator?
It is frustrating to think you have repaired something and boom it goes poof.

Re: Gear Status Indicator and Repair
You can fix thinks by putting them on teh enchanting table and "Enchanting them" (but having only them on it) IT restores them to full But.. that only works for things you have that you can Enchant.

I am aware of that Abs and have done that but still when checked with crafting anvil and stump or rune stone I get different status.
