Time Syncronization Empty Time Syncronization

Post  Shar Mon Mar 24, 2014 7:36 am

Here is a question, and i say this only because a recent post got me thinking. Who here uses what time system? we all have gotten used to GMT(+/-) but i recently noticed some deviation in the numerolagy used.

In the U.S. standerd time is desplayed like this  9:33 PM

Military time is displayed like this 21:33:08

SO... my question is, who uses what system as there standard?

((END NOTE: Nothing is being changed or anything i am simply asking out of curiosity so that i can accommodate people best when i list events & such))

I don't see why is it yucky. Each day has 24 hours. It keeps track of them past 12. Hour one is hour one, hour 13 is hour 13, hour 20 is hour 20, etc. I'm used to both systems but I like the military hours better.

Its "Yucky" because its something new for me to get used to. Where i live you cant even buy a clock that has that format because noone uses it here, which in turn means that i am not used to doing that conversion. You might love it and that's fine but its something that will take getting used to for me.

Friends,
I agree, military time is more universally understood even if the civilian USA does not typically use it. The trick is just to remember to add 12 to the hour shown on your clock for any hour after noon (12).

Be well. Game on.

While I typically use the am/pm method, most of the systems I use at work use military, so I'm just as used to reading that. I'm GMT -7 so 2000 GMT is 1300 for me, or rather 1PM

Shocked  Another west coast NwN player on Argentum Regio!

I honestly don't understand why people have such problems with military time. It isn't hard, just slightly different.

Exactly. Took me a few minutes and examples, but now I can do the conversion in a few seconds in my head

Because there not used to it...  Razz

You guys are taking this way too personally. I am the one offering to adjust to better suit you by using a time system i have never used before. It frustrates me for that very reason, i have never used it before... Ever..

Hehe, don't worry Shar, you'll get used to it, but if you don't want to, you can use the am/pm way too. At least from my part, it doesn't make too much of a difference. And as ODA said, to get pm hours, just count how many numbers after noon. Razz

Easier way for you Shar is to maybe put things this way:

Example:

6pm NY
4Pm Chicago
3pm Seattle

1800 NY
1600 Chicago
1500 Seattle

Hours before 12pm are 1-12 after that two zeros added. 1200, 1300 and numbers got you to 2400 indiciating the 24hrs in a day. Smile

The trick is remembering how many hours between US and other countries. There are onlune resources for tat that you can save. Smile
