Unusual Activity: ????????

*he just chuckles, nodding before shouldering his halberd again, "We shall see, we shall see, until tomorrow.", and with a toothy grin he turns starting with a slow jog towards the inn*

You hit the edge of town in a minute. Ahead of you is the forest, the path disappearing under the heavy shadows.

To your right is a raised platform about 1.524 meters off the ground. The platform has a small shack, which is empty at the moment. A board stands to the right of that, which you can't read from here.

To your left is the inn you were told of. A sign above the door claims this to be the Spotted Frog. After a moment of confusion, you notice this building has two stories and a different, more foresty, color scheme.

*Shrugging he goes over to the Inn, walks a round about it and then steps to the door to enter it, looking about, his halberd shouldered, and his eyes wary of the surroundings*

"Oi, two spotted frogs, ye ain't tellin me there's a swamp nearby where they come from eh?"

In front of you is a man behind a desk, he chuckles a bit.
"There's two different kinds of spotted frogs 'round here. The ones from the desert are more lizardly and spit poison, those ones are brown and yellow. The other ones from the forest is green and black, those ones are smaller, but poisonous to the touch.

The common room to your right is empty, except for one woman cleaning and straightening up the room.

In front of you to your left is a stairway leading up, you assume to the rooms.

"I guess while the others spit poison the forest ones are laced with it, anyway, did not plan to get the attention of the lizards, nor try and lick the toads in the forest, unless you have any non poisonous that taste like sugarcakes"

*Laughing he steps to the desk*

"I need a room...or bed for about a week, how much is it, and I put two tenths on top if you get me better food than any other of your customers"

For the night? About eighty gold pieces, I'll cut you a deal for the week though. That'll run you about 350. Food'll be an extra 50, delivery to the room is extra five for each time." He nods, "How big a room you need, and is there more of ya?"

"Unless I got some twin brother that hides behind my back, no noone else, and here's your gold" *He simply takes out a purse and places the coin on his desk*
"Yeah I ain't from here, but the coins should be as valuable as your own, otherwise, I'll just weigh em up with your kind and as said ye get a bonus."

The man picks up a coin to inspect it in the light. He weighs it in his hand with another from his pocket.

"Feels about right, but I've never seen a coin like this before. Where do you hail from, stranger?"

"Well halfway from hell you could say, at least that I would say if I was to also explain why I ain't there anymore" *he laughs heartily*

He looks at you oddly.
"You make these yourself then?"
He looks uncomfortable.
"Look, it's not that I don't want your gold, to me gold is gold, but in order for me go exchange these for coins I can use with the Empire, I need to be able to say where they came from. I ain't gonna get you in danger. Don't you have any other coins?"

"Well, yeah, it ain't a coin ye find around the empire or close around it, ye could say technically it would be false coinage, but the metals all real and real gold, ye can let a smith melt it in and sell it to some other coin maker or whoever uses solid gold, so I ain't seeing the problem, if ye mean the extra work, oh well, make of two tenths, three tenths, and ye have it right, or ye can have me sickle, real platinum, ain't got much use for it anyway"


*The man just shrugs and looks towards the door*
"I ain't have a problem with sleeping outside in the grass either"

He looks past you to the woman in the common room, so shrugs. When he turns back to you, he caves.

"Fine, fine. How early do you take breakfast?"

"Two hours after dawn, so, hand me the keys, I am weary and want some sleep."

*He holds out a gloved hand before he begins going up the stairs*

"Keys? Ah, right. Think I've got a copy 'round here."
He rummages in a drawer for a moment, then hands you a small tarnished silver key.
"Right, here you go. Top of the stairs, last room on the left. Try not to break anything."

*Nodding Meldranim takes the keys, shoulders his halberd and heads for his room, he locks the door and barricades it with anything he has at his disposal before heading to beg, his halberd leaning on the wall at the headpiece of the bed, a dagger and sickle below his pillow and longsword on the side of the bed that is towards the room and not the wall*

On the second floor of the inn, shortly after dawn, Meladranim awakens to the sound of footsteps approaching his makeshift fortress. He hears a knock at the door, and something being set down on the floor outside. The footsteps fade away, back down the stairs.

*Wide awake Meldranim starts moving his barricade to the side, slowly making sure he did not make too much noise while putting things at their place, always the dagger in gripping range, then opens the door to see what is there, and if it is just breakfast, he takes it in, closes and locks the door while eating*

On the floor in front of the open door is a tray, there is a plate with a folded card and a metal pitcher and cup. The pitcher is half full of water, enough to fill the cup twice.

*He holds his breath, takes the plate and puts it on the nightstand, he opens it towards the wall, shaking it for a moment before turning it to him to see what is written on it*

*He puts away the note before he closes the door, locks it and dresses in his clothing, Gambeson and his armor, the improvised turban, readying everything for travel, putting it on and heading downstairs, looking to grab some of the breakfast, and head out directly towards the forest, without any further delays, sipping a potion of invisibility and one of haste before entering it, from time to time looking into a book, magically enhanced to help finding traps*

*as the flash of light fades from her vision and she is able to see again she looks around at her surroundings*

One of the first things you notice is the lack of anything resembling the Weave, the source of arcane power you pull your magics from. You feel a similar, yet unfamiliar power burning in yourself. ((No wizard would have this power in themselves, but would be able to reach out with arcane senses to feel it in Mia))

Looking around, the tower is made from some unidentifiable metal, same as the pyramid.  There are a few balconies that provide quite a view. You are on the top of a tower, built on a lone mountain in the middle of a desert. To the east, you see a small town on the outside fringe of the desert, and to the west and north an ocean.

There are about 3 miles (or 4.828km) of desert between you and it, though there are few landmarks visible.  Beyond the town is a forest.

The town has two roads leading away,  one of simple dirt, the other (from what you can tell from here) has some sort of track, as if for some oversized mine cart.

There is an open door in the chamber, leading to some stairs down.

*As she looks around she tries to get an idea on this burning power in her. She slowly moves to the balconey taking in the sights as she takes a deep breath to keep calm. she continues to wander before coming to the stairs.*
