Unable to Harvest

Since wizards have no Weapon Proficiencies, we are unable to use the mining pick or the lumber axe. Making us unable to gather materials. I suggest a glove / ring that adds Martial and Simple weapons, but adds spell failure and negative attack rolls and lower AC. This allows use of the tools, but balances it so it will only be used for harvesting.

hmm, personally i'd just make it only useable by mage classes, other wise it is painful enough not being able to use dex boosting gloves if you're a unarmored mage.

i wasnt thinking, that works just as well. only add the other classes that dont have Martial Prof. as well

This is a good point - I wonder (Erin) would it be possible to have Henchman or summoned NPCs do the dirty work of harvesting?

Maybe summon a floating axe (like black blade) only a pick axe...


I think the trees accept spell casting to give wood, but can't recall what offhand, will edit this when I find it. Probably area floor instead of directly targeting though.

True it would save having to take a feat.

You guys sure it isn't easier for mages to just have that glove? That gives the martial weapon feat, but many disadvantages so it is balanced.
