I donated $20 via PayPal, and set up the payment for monthly. When I clicked on the next button (which should have sent me back to the server-page) I got:

Not Found

The requested URL /playnwn/thankyou.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache Server at playnwn.com Port 80

You need to check on this. Also, why did you 'Lock' the Donation Request Page.

Friend Roger_Dodger,
I locked it to keep it from getting crowded with replies, I figured, some clever forumite like yourself would start a separate thread if replies were needed. Many thanks for the thread AND for the 'bread' (yeah, we know what that means). Very Happy

Every donation helps, the kindness of people like yourself is what keeps this server available. THANK YOU, each and every one.

You're welcome very much, I'm sure.

I saw a thread here stating that NWN1 is #3 for downloads on GOG.com, and the poser about 'Where are all the users'? That got me to thinking - Yeah, where are all the users? What are they doing with this game??? . . . and, what about the Noobs? I thought it might be a good idea to, maybe, help out.

I got onto GOG.com, and found that indeed NWN1 is still in the #3 position for downloads. Great News! Then I went to GOG's forum (NWN), and read through the thread titles. LOTS of threads on how to download, install, problems getting the game to work, and get the CD Keys, but literally nothing about 'What do I do now, why did I get this game in the first place'?

It took me most of the day to write this missive, bouncing around the InterNet to get the correct Links to make the game work right in the first place - the 'Critical Re-build Patch' in particular, as well as the GameSpy workaround (NWNCX) [which hasn't been given much 'press', even here]. THEN, speaking of 'playing online' . . . I just had to leave some info about ArgentumRegio, so I left links to the server page, as well as the forum. There wasn't really time to leave much else in the 'why ArgentumRegio', but the links are there if the user is interested in playing online.

I hope I was helpful to the Noobs, without being too condescending.

BTW, I 'talked' to my Ex-wife a few days ago on Facebook (she's the one with the Kender PC), and suggested she get the game and bring her Kender to the game here. She's 'maybe' interested, but her job doesn't leave her with much free time. So, an indefinite 'maybe', but I tried.

Have a happy day!

Friend Roger_Dodger,
I really appreciate that post and what you've been doing around here. This server (ever server) needs advocates like you.

Creating and running a good server, though it is a labor of love, requires LABOR. Too many just don't get that. Labor in

operations and logistics,
management & coordination of other volunteer efforts,
PROMOTION - including web page creation with great consideration for search engines, OUTSIDE FORUM POSTS such as you did, our own forum management,
creating the background and original concept,
work in buidling areas,
scripting & debugging,
dialog writing,
map-making for general purposes,
all of this takes time from my busy day. Time I put into one task is time I do not have for another task so I am always weighing where my time is most urgently needed and best spent; where I must focus to best aid the server's goals.

Strangers are much more likely to give credence to testimonials by PLAYERS (consumers) like yourself than they are to the posts of the creator. Every post one of you good PLAYERS places for our server is time 'given back to me' that I can put into more directly making the server BETTER.

It is a constant struggle to 'stay on top of this project' - especially when I see the coffers falling low, I know I have to do something to replenish the server funds lest she close her doors forever. This makes promotions absolutely key to the servers perpetuation. The server has a load of features lots of space to explore and although there are a few bugs remaining and a good deal more to be built, priority must be assigned to promotions as without it, the whole just goes dark.

I am really happiest when I'm working at the creating and scripting, and I gravitate to that when possible. I know the DM DOCS are also essential to help the DMs understand and utilize all the wonderful stuff we have in this server, so I feel pulled toward working on these very strongly too. Then all the promotions demand my time and we know where that all goes.

I love to see players enjoying the server and that's what drives me, still there are only so many hours in a day. As you noted, even writing something like that post can take some time and thought and research, BUT the end result is worth it. You generate 'feel good' among he NWN users, new and old, and that encourages all to get out there and play/interact with the rest of the community. GOOD ON YA! Many will find help in the words you wrote. GOOD ON YA! Some of those will even come here. GOOD ON YA! We all will enjoy the server more when there are more players there to enjoy it with... it is therefore essential that good people like yourself step up like you did and post a little friendly message once in a while.

Tonight I'm working on the DM DOCS again, inserting maps into the sections on Area descriptions and preparing to flesh out still more of those Area entries (many are just placeholder entries for the Areas, they get filled in as time permits). Sadly the DM DOCS were last issued about 2 years ago and no changes since... so there is much to update.

This week I hope to work on the BUILDER MODULE some, especially as you and others are hopeful to get hands on that module (using the cep 2.1 starter module works but does not give the builder access to our many special features). It is a certainty I'll be digging in the module, working on some convos there for NPCs, rolling out more stores and background NPCs are priorites on my to-do list.

Here I will leave you all with my traditional lament.

So much to do, so little me.

*BIGBY'S SHOULDER PAT*

KUDOS on that post friend! THAT is a huge time-saver for me - a huge help to NWN NOOBS, and an all around good showing of the good sort of person you are... bless you brother!
