Server Status?

Could a page such as the link below be made for ArgentumRegio's server status?
It gives IP, Server runtime, number of online players, and the names of the characters/players online.

Has existed for a while.

Our system ceased to be listed properly with that site a few weeks ago. I think I know why and we'll fix that asap.

I do like the idea of having the names of characters and players on. That would be nice.

My old Server EFU had something like that, here is the link to show the page. I am sure there is a lot more to it as you had to do some commands "inside" the server to register your username and add a password to it to allow you to see the other players usernames.

For a time, most servers stopped reporting our NWN server online - there was a trend in the community to use methods that required changes on the hosting server in order to allow the host reporting pages to list these servers. I've long been a subscriber of "if it is not broken don't fix it". My assessment and Erins too was that the data was being broadcast by the host servers already and the change to configuration was un-needed and possibly hazardous. Thus we chose not to make those changes on our server.

Many of you good people hounded me on this topic - yes, I would like to have the server listed, but not at the cost of security.

Alas, after much effort Shar managed to speak with PASCALBRAX from iscandar.ch who paid us a friendly visit. We spoke with PASCALBRAX about our reasoning and the evidence we'd discovered that lead us to our conclusion. PASCALBRAX is a nice person, so we shared with PASCALBRAX our own code (ERINIEL IS GENIUS!!!) that revealed all nwn servers but without requiring any changes to the host server configurations.

Within days, PASCALBRAX had tested and adopted our code, enhanced it for use with his own systems and voilla! *points to top of page* We are again listed in all the major server lists.

*APPLAUSE*

My only regret is that the community did not listen to us when we said the same things a couple years ago when GAMESPY first crapped out. *shrugs* Oh well, live and learn.
