Hello, I've just installed NWN. I haven't played for about 5 years so I'm looking for a home. I tried logging into the server but I get auto-booted whenever I try to hop on any suggestions?

Where did you get your game from?

your probably trying to log into an account that has logged into the server with a different CD key. Very easy to do with new(or returning old) nwn players, because anyone can use any username name since there's no authentication check.

Quick note, if you got your game from Gog.com then, you're going to have to find yourself I believe an illegal CD Key. This has happened many times before and if you have gotten it from Gog.com well, they give you the game that has the exact same CD Key. If there is one person already in the game with that said CD Key, and you try to enter, it would either

A) Inform you when you double click the server

B) Crash the game (sometimes)

C) Boot you when you enter the server.

If you didn't get this game from Gog.com then you do not have up-to-date CEP's, I would suggest you get 2.1, 2.2, and or 2.3 (I think if you install 2.3 it also installs 2.1 and 2.2). If you have everything up to date, check up with your CD Keys it may the problem.

wow, I'm amazed at how active the forums are. I did download the game from a torrent (my disc is scrached) so it's entirely likely that it's in use by someone else, but I do have my own CD keys, anyone know the directory so I can access/change the keys easily?

I'm grabbing CEP 2.4 now (I'm hoping that'll work)

even if you cannot install from your disk, you may still be able to look into it to see its CD key, go to your disk drive and tell it to open it in a new window, you should be able to browse its files and there should be a test file with the CD key.

C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwncdkey.ini


Edit it there and you should be ok to login. Let me know the result please.
