hi,

I just went through goblin territory, troll territory, dark elves territory with Grace, and when i explored a lake i was transported to a underdark lake with little places to come ashore to keep me from drowning, so i drowned trying to find an exit....this death has put an end to the great rp and exploring we were doing since it would take me more than an hour to get back to grace's position.

I'd like to suggest the option to return to corpse ( i admit that since my corpse is at the bottom of a underground lake it wouldn't do me any good) but in general the option would make it able to continue the game. I also know that such a feat would make it too easy so a penalty of losing all xp gained at current level or losing a level completely would be a good price to pay, sometimes it's worth it, because now we are miles apart, and it just ruined the game...

...and please don't comment.."then you shouldn't have died"

anyways...any thoughts on this?

another thought...

maybe placing a binding to a person is an option, so one can spawn back to someone in the party...

...i'm really disappointed that i and grace aren't able to continue the game, i'm hoping you guys are looking into this problem

One shot items that generate a portal would solve the issue.

Though an option to return to place of death for a cost (levelx50? levelx100? 1 soul rune?) is not unreasonable.

Excellent point sploenk. Especially if DMs are not online a death can fragment a party and spoil the adventure.



Ultimately, we had intended to allow more PLAYER options - much like you can presently choose optoins such as to ALLOW/DISALLOW 'MAIMING' and 'ENSLAVEMENT', we intended to have a 'leave corpse' option. The idea was the more of these features the PLAYER turns on, the more XP they would earn (as with each option turned on, your PC risks more). I think we can add this feature for testing fairly easy - the 'leave corpse' one. Once we get the module error sorted out, we'll add that to the list. It will cost more soulrunes to do that as a respawn return point than for other options. Very Happy

The rune stone at one time had the option where you could actually carry somebody to another location but was deactivated. In the instace described Grace could of come back for his body and carried it safely where it could be raised. 
One world I play on allows you to pickup the body while the spirit is in limbo awaiting ressurection.

I could use SO much the feat to ressurect to the place where you died.

That being said, I really like this being an option in the future. Perhaps having it cost more soul runes each time it's been used in a row.

I play on a world by when you die you are saved by mysterious allies who "port you away" from a death. It may not be the same area you "died" but you return.

Xp penalties for dying are also done I believe based on set percentages which raise each time you die. After the third death it stays at the last level. One another world it is a flat 1000 xp loss.

Also since we have soul runes we can use them instead of percentages.
