Xp for preaching about your god
You can get xp for "pumping" people for information so why not for telling them about your god? It would be the same thing in regards to dice rolls as grifting and the xp rewards the same.
Clerics and lay people alike. A simple script could be likr "A'rys engages in a lively discusiion about Gessles." The game already knows if you follow a god or not.

Re: Xp for preaching about your god
I suppose that would work but nonclerics also preach and do not have favor bars. I could see favor for those whose temple is not in game. Both of my characters are functioning so I can tithe at either.

*Bump* Maybe just xp for clerics, druids and paladins. Could be connected to rune stone or grift widget.

Re: Xp for preaching about your god
According to the Arg-reg Playerhandbook, Druids in Argentum Regio see gods as 'grand spirits' and worship them in a way of paying respects to them, but ultimately don't see them as 'God' gods like Clerics and Paladins might. Their divine magic comes directly from 'Nature'. So I disagree that they should get xp from promoting their chosen god/gods.
I like Mizfats idea that you can use this to get favour from a god (which also means you wouldn't need a temple to gain favour! You just need to be devout enough to engage enough in 'spreading the word'- not conversion, as that would be a strange concept in a polytheistic culture. Only priests (and clerics and paladins) would devote themselves to a single god. Others would worship any and all gods that benefits them).
But, most classes do have xp benefits for certain activities. Arcane classes get xp from reading books, Rogues get xp from pickpocketing- what do Clerics and Paladins get? God related activities certainly seems to fit them well, especially clerics.

Yes. Favor and Xp should be awarded. On the place where I have seen this done is gaining xp from a favorable is limited to once every rl 30 min or so. However your chances of gaining favor are only limited on your success at convincing people.
You get a message like
" You have convinced 200 people favorably about your god."
Also in this place your temple has five ranks successfully preaching can help you advance.

*scratches head*
I have been pondering this for a long while - and I think i have some good notions on how to go about scripting this - I'll be basing it off of the grifting system with the specific terms salted into the mix based on the Deity being venerated. I can also use some of the carousing system too as regards a suitable reward for the sermonizer.
Any last minute feedback? This will soon be a small side project of mine to script.

Re: Xp for preaching about your god
Would suggest at the end of this sequence, a confirm change deity dialog for the target PC,
and if they accept award the cleric for increasing 'flock' and maybe record a count of this for later use.

Are you still considering doing this? I made a suggestion recently that seems very related to this thead, and I hope you will still consider doing something like this. Clerics have no real way of getting XP as a form of class trick or such, and have to rely on killing, roleplay xp, and DM granted XP.

Re: Xp for preaching about your god
*removes hat and shuffles feet sheepishly*
It has been a difficult year here for me.
It was about the time of my prior post in this thread that my desktop system suffered a video card related failure. I shifted to using what was then my 'plan b' computer, a tiny Acer One notebook computer - this restricted my ability to work somewhat. Worse, it was at that time that a number of my staff decided that this server was doomed - they departed to build their own server (without mentioning 'staff decision' nor the departure to me at all*). While the vanished staffers did not mention their departure, it was obvious to me that the server and forum sections for DMs were untended. I (using the notebook computer alone) undertook to fill-in as best I could, and this necessitated my dropping most server development until I could again find hours to allow it. In December of 2015 my Acer One failed. I recently acquired a replacement for my 'plan b' system and am using it now for Internet access (I still have a desktop system I use for development of the nwn module, but it does not connect to the Internet for any reason - a happy lil island of functionality here).
Alas, my work on this stated sytsem has halted for now but will resume in the near future. These features will be implemented.
* In September of 2015 I was approached by the leader of our departed staff and asked to script for their server. I declined.

I did not know of this. That is just heartbreaking, left without a single word is the part that gets me. I am so sorry all of this has happened, if you need help implementing some minor systems that I'm able to do (the commoner dialog for example, but maybe I could fix up some interiors with... questionable contents, and somehow shut off old system using merchants), please let me know. I'd be happy to help out, I'm not really one to build rooms or such, I'm more of a writer and bug fixer. However, whatever helps I'd be happy to do.
