Currently Gressel's blessing does not last long enough for one to use it.
Even at double speed, one cannot make it to the closest crafting area before it runs out.

Suggestion: Add a crafting anvil placeable to Gressel's Temple

There are other things crafty players can do on the spot, but I think it would not be out of place to have a single anvil in the temple, especially considering the fact that the altar is in the shape of a forge.

I think including an anvil placeable is a better option than extending the duration, as it serves the same purpose, and does not give an unfair advantage to a Gressel's worshipper who has access to haste (like my gnome).

With the anvil present, I think the current short duration would be pretty balanced, especially considering that blessings come at random and can only be attempted once per day, by the look of things.

I agree. My character A'rys is of Gessles and has recieved potions. Even when she is by the anvil or stump in the college , has everything ready
and takes the potion its benefits vanish thus making it really useless. Also to piggyback on this, since he a god of crafting, devot followers of his should be able to have slightly higher repair abilities to augment what they have. A'rys is a licensed crafter has craft wand feat, 26 in carft weapon and armor and is a level 30 character so she should be able to do many repairs she cannot. Concidering level 30 shows a length of time in game to devotion to her god and study of crafting, her abilites and those of others in simular circumstances have repair abilities and the anvils and stumps recognize this.

I agree to it in a limited way, a crafting anvil in their temple is a very good idea, and a small bonus for them on repairs would not go amiss aswell, BUT something that is bound to the anvil in such a temple, making the temple a place of crafting aswell, as it is a crafting god, it does make sense and does not overpower them in a way of crafting. Perhaps a raise of 5 points to their rolls while at the blessed crafting anvil?

Yes having an anvil at Gessles makes sense for devote worshippers. Up until let say level 21 dice rolls as to the ability to repair their own item
and over 21-40 be able to repair your own weapons and gear provided you are also licensed.

Limiting it to devote worshippers repairing their own weapons and noone elses is not overpowering nor woul dit interfere with the armorer's repair business.

Agree with both yourself and Valerion, Having an anvil in the temple makes perfect sense, And as for the added bonus of using an anvil in your patron deities temple perhaps a certain devotion/commitment to the deity is involved in order to gain the benefits....

Crafting Anvil for Gressel's Temple. Empty Greed kills

Post  Pigron Sun Feb 16, 2014 12:09 pm

There are two approaches to asking for favors.
The empty vessel approach and the beansprout approach.
I can say I am an empty vessel and you must fill me with water, or I can be a bean sprout. Give me a little water and I will show you I can grow and I will not take over the pot. Then you can give me a little more.

I suggested the anvil in the temple, because it can be implemented easily with existing objects and existing scripts. With luck, that means no new scripting, minimal testing fails, and no headaches for the people who work so hard to make things better.

I am happy to see several players think it is a good idea.

As far as getting a crafting bonus to craft in the temple, I am not really in favor of that. The existing blessing grants a very significant crafting bonus (there I went and spoiled it) but comes rarely and does not last long. I love that. It is enough encouragement to be thinking about crafting when you go to worship the way it is.

If the Gressels worshippers get full time skill bonus tied to a location, there will be a tendency for them to craft in that location, rather than travelling in to the college or the other scattered forges.
Gressels is an artisan god, and pursuit of art must at times be communal. Go forth and craft, my children.

When I was an admin elsewhere, one criterion that I always considered was whether or not an idea encouraged or discouraged multiplayer interaction. Tying a skill bonus to a single location encourages static play. Making it an exclusive bonus on a communal ability does not help.

Furthermore, the fact that Gressels accepts all crafted items (or at least all I have thrown in the bowl) as donations is a massive bonus to Gressels worshippers. My gnome's divine reputation is off the charts. I don't think I need any more bonuses.

I still want that anvil in the temple because the original blessing idea was a great idea. This will just make the original idea usable.

I respectfully disagree. The slight bonus to the carfting skill for use of repairing your own item would be an extension of the potion which is worthless.  The anvil would only be for followers to repair their broken items and can only be used by them. To craft or make items still would be required to be done at the college.
