Bardic Knowledge - WARNING SPOILER ALERT
I was thinking it might be a nice idea for bards (and maybe other classes to have in respect to their own skills) to have an runestone ability that when used in an area, it gives you feed back based on your lore skill.
Eg (Info made up by me):
Tivook Inn:
1-5: This is a popular inn among travels, sitting on the cross road between the North, West and East Roads.
6-15: (Same as above) + This inn has a reputation for very strange happenings and even has a magic portal. It is owned by Miss Etrianna.
16-30: (Same as above+) The portal's place word is 'Tivook'. It's been there since before Etrianna came into possession of the inn, and she's been the owner for some time.
31-50: ("") The caves beneath the inn are rumoured to contain dark secrets, and may even be responsible for the strange happenings around the inn.
51-75: ("") The inn was made during .... by ....
75+: Juicy secret time

Friend Elgate,
Excellent notion. To all PLAYERS interested, please post in this thread the sort of things YOU think a Bard may know for various locations found in Dohral and the suggested levels (format like Elgate's post please).

Re: Bardic Knowledge - WARNING SPOILER ALERT
A bard naturally knows more of history than other classes in overall, since it's technically their job to know and tell stories. Altough mages could get to know a lot of things too.
I don't specifically information for each classes could be avaiable to them, just common lore, to uncommon lore, than to really secret lore, according to your lore rank skill, independent to your class.

Re: Bardic Knowledge - WARNING SPOILER ALERT
Oop- sorry for any spoilers. That's why I picked Tivook- most people know most of those things, or can easily learn them (Or somewhat easily).
Hmm, not sure we should be posting spoilers: maybe a few suggestions like:
1-5: What everyone knows about the area.
6-15: What most people know about the area.
16-30: An interesting anecdote about the area which isn't impossible to find out IG, but would normally take some sleuthing.
31-50: Rumours, hints- something to give the player an idea of if the area is more than it seems.
51-75: In depth lore of the area, maybe some history: maybe an interesting legend about the area. Something a bard character can use in their stories, or to help them figure something out about the area (and the world).
75+: A secret about the area, maybe not something that you'd normally have to figure out yourself (EG, in some places where there is a pattern, or the like, where astute players can come to their own realisation, rather than simply telling the bard character 'Oh, here's the solution to the puzzle' give them a hint, or another secret about the area which is important in it's own way. Just so that Bard Characters won't easily complete a puzzle in a few seconds, that a player has spent ages putting together hints and lore to figure out themselves.)
Maybe also tie this in to the map journal? So it's not just how much lore your bard has, but also how well they know the area.
Bardic Lore 1-30 might be okay for a newish area.
Bardic lore 31-75 for a known area.
Bardic lore 75+ only for a well known area.
