Captain Elith Leafstalker
Most of this Thread is OOC information, though as you reach the end and Elith reaches Epic levels, his reputation and deeds are spoken about throughout Dohral and the lands around, his position within the Wilderness Runners and also deeds such as the "Hunting of the Dragon" by Elith and Hal Baradson and "Death of a Pale Master" are known by most of the land and the stories and songs are recited by some local Bards.
This tall, muscular young woodsman moves with a liquid grace which reminds you of a hunting cat. His open honest face is pleasantly handsome and charming. Until you reach his piercing green eyes, which hold a steel and intelligence which suggests wariness and experience. His jet black hair is tied back in a ponytail and his clothes speak of functionality over fashion.
Elith Leafstalker, named after his father’s first name, was born to an Elven father and human mother, his father was an adventureing Wizard of some power who had little time for anyone other than himself. Self centred and obnoxious, Elith Snr had no desire to continue his relationship with Elith’s mother after his satisfaction was completed and it is quite certain that he is probably unaware he has a son at all. Having moved on for whatever reasons adventurers do, Elith’s mother was left to raise their child alone. Shunned by the other people of her village for consorting with an Elf, Elith also received his fair share of grief from the villagers as he grew to a man. Having inheirited his fathers unearthly beauty and natural grace gave sufficient ammunition to the village bullies to find reasons to pick on him. Having defended his mother’s and his own honour on numerous occasions throughout his teenage years he became more and more of a recluse, choosing to spend most of his waking hours alone in the woods.
With his charm and attractiveness readily apparent, not all the villagers found Elith to be a target of ridicule and jibes. In fact most of the young women were known to court his company and Elith was quite happy to accommodate. But this one happy aspect of his life was to be the cause of his greatest tradegy. Shortly after his 18th birthday, Elith was ‘entertaining’ a young lady beside one of his favourite waterfalls, when her fiancée stumbled upon them. The young was obviously incenced, but was no match for Elith in combat. After flattening his opponent, Elith quickly melted away into the woods. Knowing that this incident would cause no ends of trouble, he decided he needed to leave this painful life and move onto greener pastures. Having made his decision, Elith quickly headed home to gather his few belongings and say his farewells to his mother.
To his horror, he returned to the village to find his home in flames and his mother trapped and long past the point of being able to be rescued. Quickly moving through the crowd which had gathered to watch the destruction of everything he held dear, Elith singled out the young man who had earlier fought with him. The man was standing, laughing with his friends as they watched the burning home, a spent torch hanging from his hand. Without a word, Elith walked up to the young man and calmly rammed his dagger under his chin and up into his brain. Turning to flee, he was pursued by most of the village men, but managed to evade them and escape into the forest.
Over the next 3 years, he was pursued relentlessly by bounty hunters hired by the village elders to bring him to justice. Always just managing to avoid capture, he finally bought passage on a ship bound for lands far beyond the reach of his pursuers. This is where his story in the lands of Dohral begins……

Re: Captain Elith Leafstalker
A tall muscular Half-Elf moves slowly through the crowded streets of the port, even in such a mundane environment his natural grace and fluidity of movement is apparent. His piercing green eyes take in everything around him and his jet black hair tied in a ponytail thumps between his shoulders with every step. Recently having arrived by ship, he looks decidedly pale, as if the rigors of ship borne travel do not appeal to him. Judging from his functional clothing and well worn boots, not to mention the sizable Longbow and quiver strapped to his back, all speak of a wilderness warrior who is much more at home by a camp fire in the forest than the city he currently finds himself.
After arriving so unexpectedly in this port town, he quickly ascertains the quickest route out of the city and into the wilderness beyond. Having purchased the supplies he needs and knowing he is capable of fending for himself comfortably, it is with a sigh of relief that he leaves the crowded city behind. Heading north along the trade way, he passes quickly through the rural areas adjacent to the city and into the less settled lands beyond.
After a few hours he notices some strange tracks superimposed over some deer tracks, after a careful examination, he determines that they belong to Ants…. VERY BIG Ants. With care and stealth he follows the tracks into the densely packed forest. Shortly he comes upon the sight of what appears to be a giant mound surrounded by numerous Giant Ants, stringing his Bow and taking care not to be spotted he decides to remove this menace from the area and help protect the safety of the surrounding community.
Over the next few weeks, Elith Leafstalker, tracks and kills a huge number of these giant creatures always determine to try to find their source. With the help of a female fighter by the name of Nami Monkey-Dee he enters one of the mounds and discovers the colony. Together they clear the colony of ants and larvae, but on exit find more ants rebuilding the mound. Elith decides that he will make it his mission to clear this area of these vermin regardless of the risks or the time it takes.
Following weeks of searching and destroying these mounds, Elith discovers another threat close to the city… a clan of Trolls. Knowing he is incapable of tackling these vicious monsters alone he enlists the aide of Dwarven warrior named Buzztaz Breaktongue and an Elven rogue called Norfiril. While journeying to the Troll lands they encounter a strange girl who seems almost Fey and disappears into or near a large tree… After continuing on to the Trolls, together they managed to kill the surface force and enter the clan cave complex. They discover to their horror a massive network of tunnels comprising numerous Trolls. After beating a hasty retreat and barley escaping with their lives, with the help of a mysterious women who seems to only speak the language of cats.
After returning to the city and vowing to meet again, if only for a tankard of ale, the companions separate. Elith restocks his supplies and heads back out into the wilderness to continue his personal war on giant vermin…. But the lure of the Troll caves is more than he can resist and once again he finds himself entering their stinking lair…. This time alone. Using his natural skills at remaining undetected he penetrates the cave complex even more deeply than he had while with his companions. Managing to map the entire first level of the caves, he encounters a large society of Goblins sharing with the Trolls. After slaughtering these disgusting bipedal vermin, Elith discovers a group of Human captives. But is unable to free them while so many Trolls remain, he vows to return and this time he intends to finish of this colony once and for all………

Re: Captain Elith Leafstalker
Elith’s Story Continues……
After months of tracking and killing Giant Ants, Elith still seems to find himself no closer to determining the origin site of the infestation. Many the time he has come upon a mound and after destroying the surface workers and guards, has descended into the colony depths…. Always finding more Ants, Larvae and even soldiers he clears the area and moves on.
His other personal vendetta in the region, the Trolls, also seem to be quite entrenched. He has entered the lair many times now, both alone and with other adventurers. Through the use of skill, stealth, strategy and not a small amount of luck, Elith has managed to destroy a fair number of these hideous, stinking creatures. Despite his use of fire and acid, there always seems to be more. After some further exploration, he realises that the lair is much deeper than previously thought. Elith has penetrated as far down as 4 sub levels into the complex and still there seems to be no end. Of course by attempting this mammoth task alone has meant that he needs to constantly return to the surface for supplies of fire and acid, which gives the Trolls a chance to regroup and the task needs to be begun anew….
Recently, Elith received a visit to his campfire one night of a very large Boar. This animal seemed to take a liking to Elith and has since begun following him everywhere and even assisting him in times of danger… Elith has named him Trojan. Also shortly after Trojan attached himself to the party, so to did a Pseudodragon named Kyton. Kyton claims to have served Elith’s father faithfully for years and only recently moved on after his death. Elith’s father’s dying wish was for Kyton to find his son, turns out he was aware all along, and awaken in him his natural talent for the arcane. After weeks of tutoring the recalcitrant Elith, Kyton finally received a breakthrough when Elith managed his first cantrip. Having no formal training and only relying on his natural talent for channelling arcane energy, Elith has now added the skills of a basic Sorcerer to his already formidable talents of woods craft, Archery and combat. Kyton continues his tutoring with the hopes of one day fulfilling Elith’s fathers dream of passing his knowledge to his son…….

Re: Captain Elith Leafstalker
The Journey continues……….
After seven months of exploring the lands of Dohral, Elith has decided that the people of Dohral are in need of his wilderness skills and has pledged himself to the guild of Wilderness Runners. He received an invitation from the guild leader, a stunning elven woman named Erinel Tano, based on his reputation as a protector of nature.
With his quests against the Trolls and Ants taking much of his time, Elith has also discovered further to the North a colony of Lizardmen. With rumours of Orcs also inhabiting the nearby cave complex, he intends to explore this potential danger and report back as to their intentions and numbers.
The Trolls seem to be gathering in numbers and strength, Elith is finding it harder and harder to reach their lair now with the surface numbers slowly growing. Their influence is expanding further and further from the entrance to their lair and he is concerned that they are gaining a strong foothold to the north. Elith is also under the impression that they are being directed by a more sinister and intelligent source. This is particularly worrying as anything powerful enough to control the Trolls must be formidable indeed.
To explore this possibility further, he will need to enter the deepest recesses of the Troll lair. A task which is worrying and extremely dangerous, even his strong abilities at remaining unseen will be tested to the full. Recently Elith heard of a nearby Isle called Vestella which is having problems of the monstrous kind. Needing a rest from the North, Elith intends to find a ship Captain who is willing to ferry him to the Isle. Hoping there he can discover more assistance in dealing with this Troll menace, either through adventurers or even powerful magic or weapons which could help with his quests.
Elith has also encountered a strong presence of thieves and ruffians within Dohral itself, These thugs appear numerous and organised. They have taken a strong dislike to Elith and have attempted to ambush him many times. So far Elith has managed to kill the ambushers, but they appear to be getting more persistant and dangerous. While enjoying a quite drink in a dockside tavern, he was even accosted by an individual who suggested that adventurers who asked too many questions or pushed too deeply into the seedier side of Dohral had a habit of disappearing… permanently…..

Re: Captain Elith Leafstalker
After 12 mths in Dohral……
Elith has now been residing in the Lands of Dohral for 1 year, during this time he has expanded his knowledge and experience of all things nature. Now one of the most knowledgeable Rangers of the Northern Regions, he has explored and mapped almost all of the Northern Dohral and Tivook areas.
Also as a means of tapping into his natural arcane skills, Elith has been attending classes at the college of Dohral. He has mastered Enchanting and has managed to imbue two short swords with fire and acid to assist him with his vendetta against the Trolls in the north. He is also studying Herbolgy, Woodworking and Smithing.
Recently, while resting up at the Tivook Inn, Elith encountered a group of like minded adventurers who were enlisted to try to clear the Trolls lair in the North. Overhearing the conversation, Elith mentioned his knowledge of the area and these fell beasts. Joining up with the adventurers, they headed north towards the lair of the Trolls.
Upon reaching the lair, they discovered that the Trolls had allies now in the form of Hill Giants….. After fighting their way to the entrance to the lair, The party descended into the darkness…. After much hard fighting and needing to retreat many times, the party got separated, knowing that to continue deeper alone was too dangerous now the lair had been disturbed and was on alert, Elith returned to the Tivook Inn to await whatever companions managed to survive.
Elith has since continued his guerrilla tactics of stealth and speed against the Trolls. Alone he has returned again and again to the lair, penetrating deeper into the lair. He has succeeded in clearing large parts by separating the Trolls and choosing his ground to fight them 1 on 1. Along with his new swords, longbow with arrows of fire and acid, fire and acid bombs and his simple spells of fire, Elith has become quite the menace to the Trolls and individually even the Cheiftains find themselves to be struggling.
The journey continues…….

Re: Captain Elith Leafstalker
2 Years have now passed since Elith’s ship first docked in Dohral. He has continued to adventure in the North, both alone and in parties of adventurers. Through his arcane skills he has managed to progress to a stage with his archery of being able to imbue his arrows with some of his magical power and has elevated himself to the level of one of the best archers in the realm.
He has also managed to increase his skills at enchanting and has created two magical short swords of significant power… and is in the process of crafting a bow of staggering power.
During recent months, Elith has been involved in numerous skirmishes in the north. He was camping quietly North of Dohral when a lone warrior approached his camp. Turns out the warrior was part of a caravan which had been ambushed. After some investigation, Elith determines that the ambush was carried out by Giant Ants and Goblins….. The goblins seemed interested in procuring some dwarven weapons, though for what purpose Elith is yet to determine. After attacking their rear force and removing some of the threat, He is determined to get to the bottom of this mystery.
He has also teamed up with a group of adventurers in trying to ascertain why a young Fey creature named Libra is causing more deadly mischief than is usual for her kind. The group has entered Fey land and returned, but still with this mystery unsolved…..
A couple of weeks prior, Elith teamed up with the new Master Monk of Dohral and a young warrior called Alaric to escort a Sorcerer in his quest for herbal components. This quest took them deep into the Troll lair… deeper than Elith has previous been himself. While exploring the depths and clearing Trolls, the group discovered a gated bridge which, through the use of certain spells that allow Elith to see as if in broad daylight, it appears that the other side has Trolls and slimmer, smaller bipeds flitting through the shadows.. working alongside the Trolls and to some extent seeming to order the Trolls… These bipeds have a decidedly Elvish grace and carriage to them, but by remaining in constant shadow it is difficult to determine their exact race.
While fighting Trolls near this bridge, Elith was forced back by numerous enemies and fell from the bridge…. Landing hard much deeper in the lair.. he discovered a clan of Deep Gnomes and tunnels leading into what Elith guesses is the Underdark… After days of fighting his way through Trolls and back to the surface.. Elith is currently resupplying and considering how to approach these new threats…. There also appears to be another entrance to the Underdark beneath the Cyrpts of the Dead in Metrocryptia… Elith explored this area recently and encountered such beasts as Hook Horrors, Aboleths and Rust Monsters…. And also discovered a hidden entrance to a maze of corridors which seem without end…..

Re: Captain Elith Leafstalker
After years of toiling in the wilderness against the Troll lair, Elith has managed to penetrate to the deepest levels. Deep within the lair he encountered an ancient Troll of tremendous power. Alongside this Troll were Drow warriors, Priestesses and mages. It appears that Elith has finally discovered the power behind the seemingly well organised Trolls. After defeating the Ancient Troll and his Drow guards, Elith discovered another entrance to the Underdark.
Recently, Elith was promoted to second in command of the Wilderness Runners and Captain of a special strike force within the Guild.
After teaming up again with a group of adventurers, Elith has managed to help free a number of prisoners from the Troll lair. While working closely with Lord Tivook, this adventuring party is still attempting to end this Troll menace.

Re: Captain Elith Leafstalker
a further 6 years pass…..
Elith has spent nearly 8 years traversing this enormous country since landing here so unexpectedly. His travels have taken him far into the wilderness surrounding Dohral and his encounters and adventures have been many and varied. He has met and assisted many of Dohral’s resident adventurers and has made his fair share of enemies along the way too.
Shortly after his association with Lord Tivook and the other adventurers in rescuing the prisoners from the Troll lair, Elith took his leave near the Tivook Inn and after a rather dark and suggestive meeting with another adventurer by the name of Donan Lyonsbane disappeared back into the wilderness. A couple of days later while again traveling near the Inn, Elith decided to stop in for a glass of Evermead.
His entrance to the Inn startled the current occupants… a Vampire feasting on a corpse by the door quickly glances up in Eliths direction and further into the room a man in a long, dark cloak splattered with the appearance of blood, spins around to face the door. “Kill him” the command is spat from his lips coldly, Elith though had quickly assessed the situation and was already moving. His hands slipped back under his cloak and drew two medium curved blades as he stepped in towards the Vampire, all in one fluid movement. As the Vampire began to rise Elith was dropping into a spinning crouch which took both his blades, one dripping acid and the other in flames, through the path of the Vampires body. The Vampire dropped soundlessly as his head and upper torso seperrated from each other and from his legs. Rising from his crouch, Elith turned to face the cloaked figure.
“And who might you be?” he asked softly.
“I am Jarek, and you have met your death” the reply came from a face which looked drawn and hagged and some might say carried many of the characteristics of the dead. And with that said the man raised his arms and began to chant. Elith again, thanks to his natural alertness and speed, was already moving. Knowing he had to get close and engage the Wizard in melee before he was able to get too many spells away. Elith crossed the Inn’s floor in a couple of steps and quickly had his blades in motion towards the wizards body.
The fight was short and bloody, the wizard was a dangerous opponent and Elith suspected not an ordinary wizard or mage. Bruised and bloody, Elith looked down at the corpse of Jarek before looking around the Inn. There were bodies of patrons sprawled everywhere, many showing the signs of being victims of the Vampire. From the back emerged the Innkeeper and a few other survivors.
“Our thanks, Captain, we will take care of the rest” the Innkeeper smiled his thanks to Elith, who nods and slowly leaves the Inn.
A few months pass and Elith again finds himself seated in the Tivook Inn, no signs remain of the tragedy which was so narrowly averted not long ago. He is sharing a table and a drink with a Sergeant of the Wilderness Runners by the name of Hal Baradson. The two are stalwart companions who have worked together many times and their comradrie is obvious in their banter.
They both glance up as a man bursts into the inn… “DRAGON!!” his face grey and voice screeching with terror. The two Rangers were quickly on their feet, grabbing their Bows and packs from beside the table and heading for the door. “Which way?” Elith asked as he passed the man. “NNo..rth” he stammered. And with that they were out the door.
Exiting the Inn and heading north the two Rangers are able to track the Dragon’s path by asking the Birds, Deer and other animals whose paths they cross. The animals are keen eyed and note the Dragon’s passing strongly in their minds, this makes it quite easy for the experienced Rangers to follow the Dragon right to the river. Here a feeding Deer informs the Rangers that the Dragon flew north across the River.
Glancing at each other, the two Rangers strap their bows to their backs and tying a rope between them, enter the water. The current is very strong and the distance immense, only the strength of the two swimmers and their assistance of each other at various times allows them to cross safely.
Once across and prepared to move, the rangers again seek signs of the Dragon’s passing from the animals. They head north east and after a short while come to a clearing in the centre of a ravine, surrounded by high plateaus. The signs are here that this clearing is the Dragons lair, crushed bones and bits of harness, metal, armour and weapons are strewn in the grass. The two Rangers split, one heading left the other right, and they quickly climb to the top of the ravine. Now, with one of them on each side, they set their ambush and each disappear into the bushes. They need not wait long, as the Dragon arrives shortly, a large horse in it’s jaws. Springing their trap, Elith and Hal cut loose with a devastating barrage of arrows at the Black Dragon. The fight is long and very nearly deadly for both Rangers, but eventually they manage to bring the creature down.
Afterwards, Elith sends Hal back to report this to Erinel Tano. She is the Wilderness Runners Guild leader and therefore one of the key players in the Northern Wilderness and needs to be aware of a possible new threat to the region. Staying on this side of the river himself, Elith explores one area of the North he had not yet reached. Spending a tenday here, Elith discovers many things including an Orc clan and a cave which housed 8 empty coffins… knowing what this could mean and fully aware that he was standing in front of them at midnight, Elith quickly retreated to the surface.
Over the next few months and years, Elith travel far and wide, fighting Vampires on Vestalla, Ghosts in haunted manors and Liches, Mummies, Zombies and many other forms of the Undead which occasionally rise in the surrounding countryside. His expertise against the Undead is growing as is his knowledge of their weaknesses.
Recently, while exploring the Lizard clan and studying whether they were a growing threat in the North with Erinel, She and Elith was sucked through a whirlpool into an underground cavern deep below sea level. They began to explore these caverns and found them to go deeper yet. Inside they contained many creatures, Elementals of tremendous powers, Djinns and small crab like creatures in great number. There were also Beholders and Demon Golems, and this was only in the higher tunnels. Erinel left to follow some further leads and Elith continued to explore for a while. Soon though, he too needed to return to the surface for resupply.
On the surface, he found himself to be North of the River and begun the long journey home. Late one night, he spotted the glimmer of a campfire through the trees, heading in the direction he discovers some of his old traveling companions. Kir Temple, a pretty young Sorceress, Hal Baradson and Nami Monkey Dee, a warrior woman. Along with a few new faces to the group. Kir is sick, appearing to Elith to be suffering the onset of Vampirism, a sign further enchanced by two bites on her neck. Leading the group swiftly south, they ford the river with the help of a raft that Hal built and head for the Tivook Inn. At the Inn, a priest agrees to help Kir and transports her to his temple.
Elith continues his journey back to his office as Captain of the Timber Wolves, a special force within the Guild of Wilderness Runners, housed in the Wilderness Runners secret headquarters deep in the forest. His advancement as a Ranger has nearly been equaled by his powers as a Sorcerer, this combined with his growing ability to combine magic and archery has made him a very versatile and powerful defender of the region.
