Someone better get over to beamdog, before I do ...

I'm unable to get on AR at this time, because they updated NWN:EE automatically, and server version doesn't match our version now.

Ummm, we should get a warning or something, before they just throw up an update. Not on beamdog forums, but in the steam forums, BEFORE so.
Give a week or so 'Buffer" so PW owners can update , and players be prepared to not be able to play until everyone is updated.
This way, there' s no coordination ... how it's done currently.

Talk about beetle-headed, bone headed thing to force on everyone.

( Steams option on NWN:EE not to auto update, doesn't work ... I am one out of about 350 steam users, that have filed issues with this to date for NWN:EE . )

I got aggravated, got home from work, wanted to sit back, drink my coffee, relax in game ... and a stupid un-announced update, kills it.
Especially no way to stave off such updates currently, being at the mercy of ..whenever beamdog feels like sliding an update in there, un-syncing our versions.
I even think Helthan was on, not sure if he could play by then, but he was on the forums posting.

I posted on steam , under the update heading ... I'm far to aggravated to go run to beamdog's forum, and point out the over obvious flaws in what they just did.

My apologies that the server was unavailable (for any reason). We'll get through this asap and restore your access. Meanwhile, maybe work the forum IC area a bit (I'm sure I'm not the only one enjoying your posts). And maybe have a look at the wiki to see what you might discover there - if you spot anything that has been changed on the server let me know, I'm sure the wiki needs a little attention). This will not be overlong - this outtage.

I knew, it was no fault of anyone here, the ...issue is non-thinking , non role-playing experienced game devs. just doing things, not knowing what they are doing to everyone.

I've updated some post in the IC thing , I do hope there's some enjoyment there in.

Seriously, thats a hint to our players! Hint , HINT!!!

I'm just trying to portray the non-on-the-surface depth and complexity of characters.
I know the post are very ... exclusive to a few characters so far, and it's currently very "romance-like" oriented ... We ( as a trio) haven't had much in the way of any other real influences , to write/RP on anything else currently, just whats went on in game between us in RP.
I find creative tools using, thing like romance, or even the opposite and lack of. Love and hate, and such ... make for good tales, give immersive aspects, and motives.

Seeing the ... story, develop through the different perceptions of the characters involved, is fascinating, and quite entertaining to me as well.

We could have all been on the forums, role-playing by post, during the short outage here ...
Like you said, every post, smacks onto goggle, pointing browsers here, means we gain more players, more RP, more immersion into the fantastic jewel of a PW , and maybe some aid in keeping the lights on too.
What better way, at least from my view point, to get players INTO a realm/world ... , be reading IC postings of , players role-playing, giving information ( notice I often try to include things we can do in game , in the tales/journals too! )
Or places maybe, catching subconsciously into the minds of eager players wanting to just jump in and get to playing ... , they might not remember they need a bedroll and wood, but they might remember Tivook Inn if it's seen enough via IC postings.

I tried not to waste the down time , I'll scan around the wiki a bit too...

I seem to recall on the previous beamdog update one of our players had a similar problem and managed to 'revert' to prior version. I _think_ it may have been Helthan. Search the forum here to see if you can find that thread (I'll do likewise but I confess I'm nearly ready to head out the door for some RL questing of my own so IDK if I'll find and link before I must depart).

For those who are running NWN:EE through Steam, I have a solution.

Right-click NWN:EE in your Games library, click Properties. Got to the BETAS tab, and select the "oldstable -" beta.
That worked for me, since I just did, and am on the server as I write this.

EDIT: Worth noting that once the server is updated, you will have to un-select the oldstable beta.

Mine didn't work, had to do a complete re-install again.

I traveled this weekend; before when the update went I waited a bit and then did it couple days later.
Now coming back I checked to see if had gotten accomplished on server but don't see the A.R. world on the list and tried direct connect and it said mismatch for client and sever version but it's not showing up in the grayed choices where those with differing version are shown. Anybody can you advise what has happened? Also does the hardware need a collection about now to keep going? I know the fixed IP addresses are usually extra fees from an ISP and can drain pockets as well. Let me know how i can contribute back.

Currently the server is down ( grey'd out "unknown" ) , it crashed last night, and Eriniel has to figure out what caused it, so it doesn't happen again.

Oda mentioned her mom had a flight today, so she's probably been busty in RL, but ... she's fantanstic, and it'll be up again tonight or tomorrow most likely.

Eriniel had a look at the system and the server is up and running again. I'm not sure what knocked it out but when Eriniel has an evaluation on the forensics I'm sure I'll get a report. Meanwhile - if you see the server listed as grey it means it is a different version than is your software, so please revert to same version as the server until we are ready to update (soon).
