RP guide for Dohral?
Too often I have logged on latelly looking forward for some RP wich is my favorite passtime maybe with the exeption of beeing in my acting group, only to log because things get too weird, silly, or just unbelievable.
Is there some sort of RP guide to Dohral?

Re: RP guide for Dohral?
What do you mean by RP guide?
I would also be curious about it if I knew what it was, I think.

Re: RP guide for Dohral?
If you're telling us some people needs some additional RP training (If that's what you meant of course), why don't you give them a guide yourself? I know that you're an excellent role-player.
Or, if you're looking for a guide, like map. Which tells us what's OK, and what's silly, generally displaying the margins. I don't think we have that here on the forums yet. But, I can be wrong. Search is your friend btw.

Re: RP guide for Dohral?
I think a RP guide would be nice here, but I have not the time to devote to creating it. It may be best if we just delegate the drafting of one to our players. So how about it players? Who's up for making a good RP guide for the module?

Oh... More of an rp-guide that tells you wether there are angels and demons in the world, or not? And what angels/demons can do if they exist?

You hear that dragon? Limits?
Re: RP guide for Dohral?
Angel/Demon is just another word for Celestial/Infernal.(Or such, except with a bigger ego, in my opinion. =P)

There are never limits to what can happen in DnD. Think of it that way

To be honest, Torry had a bad habit of going overboard with things.

Re: RP guide for Dohral?
I've done a lot of dm'ing in pen and paper roleplaying games. In my experience, having rules is necessary system-wise but alot of the times you have to disobey the rules to make the game more realistic. The rules of the setting is a little different however. And by rules of the setting I mean that if I am playing a world war 2 roleplay setting there would be guns of that period. There wouldn't be accelerator-rifles as they would belong to a scenario in the future. I could throw in accelerator-rifles (whatever that is) and create a sci-fi plot of some kind, thus altering the players whole conception of the campaign - so I better be ready for their questions and have in-game answers to all of them (like realistic science, background and a hefty plot that really intrigues them etc). But if I then threw in orcs, halflings, elves, trolls and on top of that aliens, well then there would just be no rules (the players would question me and the campaign and they would ultimately not want to play the game anymore). It would become extremely unserious. While at times I enjoy that a scenario does not have to be totally serious, I do think there is a line that, if passed the game loses its interesting points to me.
While there are rules and should be rules and some should be broken, I do believe that dnd already sortof does that and the sheer amount of lore there is in dnd should be enough to make celestials come to life without you actually blending genres too much. I've felt that at times it feels like I am playing this human or elven character in a game where I am expecting to find a setting where she belongs, only to, at the first turn, run into something that doesn't belong there. I try to adjust but more and more oddness's appears (more and more anomalies) and since the "out of the world" concepts gain reality by the enforcement of player and storyteller alike, MY character becomes the anomaly. The regular, normal elf/human does not, anymore, belong in the world because the world has changed. It is not because of some event or plot that has the king hunt down any elves in his lands due to a curse or something, but it is the rules of the gaming-world that changed.
So my suggestion is making some ground-rules. All the dm's and Oda should go together and argue and haggle about things that is "in the setting" as opposed to "definatly out of".
Having said this: I haven't played at all in several weeks so I don't know if I even should have a say in how the roleplay "should be". Honestly, I think you should just do what you think is the most entertaining for all of you. However, I will argue my oppinion from a general perspective. I do think I'm right, you see. xD

Re: RP guide for Dohral?
I'll just say that I understand the need to make things fun, and spice it up and all that. But I don't think it's fair to Oda that people come in and decide to change the way things work and such or the setting rules on a whim.
In the end it's up to him, and I think when in doubt, you should consult him or possibly Eri if possible before doing something big. If you can't, maybe you should settle for small and perhaps mundane tasks until then. They can be just as fun as an epic quest or battle when done right.
Of course this might deviate further off-topic, but I had to put it somewhere.

Re: RP guide for Dohral?
i totally agree that ODA has final say but there are other reasonable DM's who can answer your questions... ODA and ERi already have a lot on there plate and if something is brought to there attention it should be from another DM, if all other DM's can not find a solution.
also i agree with eve that there should be a since of realism but with a hint of excitment but there can easily be a problem with someone running an event bringing in an npc or an ation that would over power or overwhelm a player(i.e. lvl 40 dragon fighting a team of lvls 1-5 players) the rules or "guidelines" are simple...
as a player, unless you can explain it and a DM agrees, you don't have it or can't do it...
as a DM, if the event has no impact from the players involved and is purely for that paticular DM's satisfaction then what is the point of the players even playing?.
