Mute Character

My character is what is known as mute, how should language be implemented for them?

there is a thieves cant which is a form of sign language and body language. it's not the best when speaking long sentences  but it could be a start  as things are figured out. but alot won't understand you so you just have to be creative. i believe your not the first to play a mute character and it was interesting trying to talk to her and fun

Friends,

I think this may be a good idea - a couple 'non voiced' languages that PCs can use to communicate BASIC communication. Like the Thieves' Cant, this can be gestural (causing the PC to move about some) while allowing those who likewise have the language to understand what is being sent.

Perhaps we could have one for soldiers/sailors? That could go into general use by mutes? Should we limit communication via this channel? Like maybe by word length? Feedback?

Thieves cant is good however not everyone will know it. The player can also emote they are writing in a book and in the talk channel could look something like this

*Writes in Book* *My name is Mute.*

Agreed not all will know Thieves' Cant ... I'm suggesting something like the cant, in that it is a gestural method, but distinct from it (e.g. knowing one does not make one know the other).
