Appearance Overrides

Post  Fenguard on Sun Jun 06, 2010 5:29 pm

Okay! I have scoured the NWN Vault website and come up with some(A Lot) great overrides for landscaping, creatures, weapons and other things that I really liked, their not necessary to play the server but they improve the look of the game a lot. (just download the ones with all the override files and shove them in the override folder.)
(Might need to download something to extract the files. I.E. Winrar)

As O.D.A. said; Some of the content in overrides can be beautiful, but it can also be a cause of conflicts or issues in game play. USE THESE ONLY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

OVERRIDES are not generally a good idea in my experience. If you run with anything in your overrides folder, you should know, the first thing we do when you ask for help in troubleshooting anything that does not work is tell you to "delete all the stuff from your override folder". Some of this stuff may look great, but much of it can cause issues in game play and I don't troubleshoot other people's overrides nor do I know the content of any override packages out there (and don't plan to spend any time learning them).

Some of the content in overrides can be beautiful, but it can also be a cause of conflicts or issues in game play. USE THESE ONLY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

NOTE - there MAY be some content in your override folder from installation of NWN itself - make sure you keep that stuff as without it, you may also experience some issues in game play.

Be well. Game on.

What's the one that makes hands look better? Can you make a link to that one?

After I saw how the tivook inn looked after I put in one of the overrides I decides to download a whole bunch of them to make the graphics more visually appealing but the cave and rural overrides don't seem to do anything so I'm wondering what I did wrong? Should I put some files into somewhere else than the override folder? o.O

Edit: Specifically it seems caves overrides and rural doesn't work correctly. Though City exterior and Inn interior looks excellent. Smile
Some rural works well. Maybe I was mistaken.

You need to specify the location for the files to extract to if your using the self extractor, if you got the .rar version you might need something like this

RE overrides

Post  wolf116 on Sun Apr 03, 2011 5:16 am

The ones I've got running do make it look great but be careful as there are places it gets real tight on some maps, feel like I need to hack my way through , dark overgrown rural paths through the forest.. ooc wise they can make it hard to see monsters... real hard , so have fun and hit tab to check if you think you saw something pale
