Winter is fast approaching and I have some RL weatherizing that needs doing. This includes some really out of the ordinary sort, trench digging for drainage, followed by the transport of about 12 tons of stone to fill those trenches. I have been at this a while, as much as my broken body and the weather allows, and I hope to get the job done by the time the hard weather hits (the garage has taken damage from the freeze-thaw cycles of the last fifty years and is greatly distressed, shifted in places off the foundation by as much as 3" maybe 4"). Controlling water around the building in this way sets the stage fore me to repair it one block at a time starting next spring season. Still, much of my time this last month has gone to the needful task.
Sadly the vid card and or driver on my main computer are not happy, and Erin and I are investigating this, hence you've not seen me login to the server in a few days. I am presently using my old notebook computer to handle email, forum management and related activiity for the server.
In the middle of all of this I've been pressed upon to empty a storage facility and move my gear from there to my own faltering garage, necessitating a major repack job in that garage. *sigh*
busy busy busy... still, if anyone needs anything here, just ask, I am still a presence in the forum daily.
Hope to see you all on the server again soon!
An elderly neighbor (from a couple doors up) took a fall in her cellar on Friday night. I discovered her when after not being able to raise her on the phone all day Saturday, I dropped by and spied her thru the cellar window on Saturday evening.
The ambulance was there in short order, and we were all elated to discover she was lucid and largely unhurt. Her fall had been broken by a basket full of clothes (she was at the laundry station when she fell). 86 years old, the dear lady, and she spent nearly 24 hours on the floor unable to get up (artificial knees).
She has one of those 'button-necklaces' that alerts others to an emergency, sadly she was NOT WEARING IT. She knows now that she must keep it with her like it was her own skin from now on.
Norma is in hospital presently, I'm spending a bit of my time dogsitting her dachshund and visiting Norma in hospital. My kitties are adapting well to their new houseguest.
Work on the garage has halted for now - I am out of stone to haul, 8 tons in the trench so far. I'm hoping to get more in a few weeks if I can, if that fails, I'll be covering the remainder of the trench with a straw layer to insulate the building foundation and be done with that until spring season.
My desktop system is still down with a video driver update problem, Eriniel and I will review that in a few days.
LIFE = EVERYTHING, ALL AT ONCE, ALL THE TIME.
Her dog Lilly is doing well so far, she does not cry overmuch (but she does cry). She's enjoying her stay here and getting to know the kitties one nose sniff at a time. The kitties are getting used to this (old) dog being here... there's no chase in her anymore and the kitties are slowly coming to realize that they are safe around this strange stubby dog.
I'm getting caught up on house chores today and tomorrow, laundry mostly. With these things under control, Erin and I may attempt to fix my desktop system early this week (assuming that timing works for Erin).
I'm looking forward to getting back to full activity level again soon.
I have been busy in odd moments making edits to the module on the BUILD machine. So when the desktop is back to functional again there WILL be an update to the server.
THANK YOU all for your patience.

Wet weather is upon me, and the chill just on the heels of the wet.
The garage was fully trenched 2 meters wide on the west face, that trench filled with eight tons of stone. The whole has been covered in plastic sheeting, and five bales of straw fluffed up in the space about 1.3 meters out from the wall as an insulative blanket to the building for the season... the trench below providing an easy path for water to migrate away from the foundation.
My next task is to complete the indoor more efficient re-arranging of the garage to accommodate some building supplies that my father is sending me (clearing out his storage building). This I'll do spread out over the next two to three weeks but - the good news is my 'crunch' time is done... the remaining steps are more leisurely allowing me to spend proper time working on the server too.
I am looking forward to releasing the update that I've been working at in odd moments the last several weeks... good stuff. Watch for it in a few days.
HOORAY for Norma!!!!!!
My life is getting back to normal again. I've finally been able to get around technical snags (with Eriniel's help, THANK YOU ERINIEL) to get my drives backed up properly. That done we are addressing the hardware / software issue that sidelined my desktop system a few months back.
I am beginning to receive the first of the scripts for the voice set expansion, and that project is moving along nicely. I estimate the writing may be completed as early as the end of January.
I am preparing a HUGE update for the server, stay tuned for more information soon.
Our community outreach effort is well received as of this writing. It is nice to again see new faces on the server! Welcome to all our new PLAYERS I hope to see you all on the server again soon.
I am looking forward to running some games this week and next. Time to bust out a fresh can of fun. *fetches out the can opener* I'll see you all on the server!
Be well. Game on!
Eriniel is down with a cold/flu, as is most of her family. I am sure you join me in wishing them all a speedy recovery.
I will be mostly offline for a few days as I prepare a module update. I will check in for messages daily though.
My catastrophe fund suffered a catastrophe, and I have a new furnace as of today.
I spent the last two weeks hauling trash out of my cellar, old stuff no longer needed or that got a bit mildewed from the days when the cellar would flood under heavy rains. That does not happen anymore since I got all the drains in around the house (did them myself with a shovel and wheelbarrow). Slowly improving the place a bit I guess. *shrugs*
Again I hope to get back to fixing my desktop computer. lol.
Eriniel and I have begun doing the 'heavy lifting' to rehab my computers. Fresh vid cards are due in monday.
I've revamped my communications / Internet system here and economized household services. Doing so has also obtained faster connection speeds for me so I'm happy on that point.
In the following days Eriniel and I will be restoring my various sub-systems and preparing to release a new UPDATE TO THE MODULE. Please stand by.
These have been busy weeks full of chaos.
On February 29th, alone at home, Norma fell. Broke a bone (the thigh bone, near hip). I'm dog-sitting Lilly again. Norma is recovering well. Of course, I was the one to find her.
My desktop computer seems to have been flirting with a power supply failure, this triggered or possibly exacerbated the fan on the old graphic card I run... it is pretty much toast (the graphic card) running but running HOT. I've got a new PSU on hand here and am waiting for an adapter (due in on Wednesday).
It has been exceedingly difficult working with just this single Internet connected machine - when it starts to malfunction I'm left with no Internet so my access to resources essential to fixing things dwindle appreciably (I'm looking at you Eriniel ). Sooooo, I've scraped up some few dollars and sent for a refurbished notebook computer (very modestly equipped) - it will be my official 'plan b' machine (my old notebook died on me a few months back).
I am _still_ here, still scripting and building interesting things for the module. There is a massive update to the module waiting for my uploading of it (which must await my repair of the desktop system). Step-by-step, we will get there. KUDOS to all you nice people staying in touch by private messages! I look forward to seeing you all on the server soon!
This week, I got to see Norma walk again!
She was moved today to the next unit, a rehab unit, and she is continuting to do very well in therapy. Her spirits are up and home is on the horizon (still some way off, but clearly in her future hurray!).
Today, with luck, I'll have a new vid card in my desktop system and with that will resume our usual work on the module.

Testing with the new vid card did not go so well. I'm back with Eriniel today to have a second look at the issue.
Friend Sploenk!!! brother, I hope we will see more of you around here, I've missed you! I know you are busy in RL, when demands there are lighter, I hope we'll see more of you here again! Best wishes to you!
The 'plan b' computer system has arrived, a nice lil notebook computer. I'll be getting it configured properly with Eriniel's help over the next few days ... soon after, I'll join you all on the server again, and unleash a mighty update too.
After a couple days of tinkering with the new 'plan b' computer, with a great deal of help from Eriniel, I am pleased to announce :

KUDOS TO ERINIEL!!! As you can see from the screen shot above, she has the PLAYER and DM clients working by shortcut on my LINUX desktop, but even better, the NWTOOLSET too is setup to run from the desktop just the same way!!! All my security measures are in place and I can again access the server. You may look forward to seeing me on the server as DM and PLAYER frequently and in the coming days you will see the commencement of an awesome series of updates to the module.
I look forward to seeing you on the server sometime soon!
HOORAY FOR ERINIEL!!!!
I would also like to point out that EVEN THOUGH I WAS UNABLE TO LOG TO THE SERVER TO DO MAINTENANCE, Eriniel's awesome coding and our awesome server/module design proved robust and ran clean all these months.
