PnP players advice wanted on how to use the dicebag
Hey Guys,
I know how to use the dicebag's dice for skills, how to "persuade" and how to counterroll..."will", these can be used in PvP games and to enhance roleplay experience during dm'd events (search, spot, listen, etc...). But I have no PnP experience and i'm not sure how to use the common dice ingame, the 1d4, 1d20, etc...
...could somebody explain to me how, when, and if they are used in the game?
*this might be a usefull sticky for future reference*
Thanks in advance!!!

Re: PnP players advice wanted on how to use the dicebag
I yet only had to use those once when I rolled for a character to either get pregnant or not, by a system Eriniel told me out of her PnP books.
The common dices are rarely used, though I intend to start a small game of chance one time in tavern, using those common dices.
Be well, game on!

This lovely tool can be used in a number of ways -
HORSE is a classic game using five six sided dice where you try to make poker hands with your rolls, rules generally specify STUD (no re-rolls), or STANDARD where up to three dice are re-rolled once.
Be well. Game on.

- a DM might ask a PLAYER to make a specific skill check in game such as when trying to persuade a NPC in some fashion; essentially any time a skill might impact events.
- a DM might ask a PLAYER to make a specific ability check such as when a PC tries to lift a fallen beam off of a comrade; essentially any time a ability might impact events.
- a DM might ask a PLAYER to make a specific die roll such as a d20 (without specifying to the PLAYER what it is for) in such cases as the PC might not be aware that their skills/abilities might impact events... a perception check for example, where the DM only reveals information if the PC succeeds.
- a PLAYER might want to have their PC engage in some gambling with other PCs or with NPCs in which case, dice games can be played using the dice bag item.

Re: PnP players advice wanted on how to use the dicebag
Their are seven (Or eight) types of dice.
The D4,D6,D8, The two percentage dice, known as D10 when alone, or D100 when both are rolled, and the D12 and D20.
Most of the dice are used in PnP depending on your weapons Attack roll. A dagger of D4, would use a D4. Or, a Longsword of D6 will use a D6 dice to determine damage.
D20 is used for skill checks, as well as critical hits or critical miss, and saving throws.
D100 is used to determine chance. Will your character get effected by the mysterious force a DM is to throw at him. Or, will it bounce off.
I will add more and correct some of this, once I get home but for Now I shall leave such for you to think on.
