i was informed that official announcments given on some servers that Gamespy is officially shutting down multiplayer after the summer, i don;t know if its really true yet, but i don;t know what this would mean for all of us. If the servers could still be up without the IG NWN multiplayer.

Gamespy stopped supporting nwn servers a while ago, thats why the list of servers disappeared (unless you used the host file to redirect it to another site)

The only gamespy system nwn is using atm is the chat room, so once that goes down the chat room will disappear too but thats as far as nwn will be effected.

Direct connection or connecting from history or favorites bypasses gamespy.

I've have had gamespy blocked on my nwn client for years via firewall and its not stopped me connecting, so no panic if gamespy goes, nwn will continue. nwserver(.exe) program handles all transactions between nwn client and the online game.

I totally agree with Eriniel. There is nothing more that Gamespy can do to NWN. Gamespy has already done their worst to us (and were surprised not to have come away with bags of extorted money). There is nothing more that gamespy can do but pout, and I say let them. I'll never touch another game powered by Gamespy and I advise you all to do the same.

i was actualy confused when i saw this. my first thought was "didnt they already do this?".

I asked around and it seems that this is old news from when they pulled the master server nothing more.

i misunderstood it as a complete shutdown of multiplayer, misinformation i guess.
