Trying to Bring a Few People...

...on Board.

I got Neverwinter Nights installed on two of my friend's computers and I was trying to get them on the server, but the server keeps booting them. It has something to do with their CDkeys. This is a little frustrating after waiting 3 hours for it to install. Looking for solutions from you guys.

Tell me about the new nwn installs? Are they from gog.com? If so you need to get a unique cdkey from gog.com for each install. If it is from some other source let me know and I'll post a solution.

I just copied my version of NWN so that I wouldn't have needed to use any updaters or anything. It also would bring over any of my haks that I installed, so that's what I did, I have 2.33 sets of keys. 1 is my father's personal one that I use on the server. The second one is one that someone accidentily shared in a google project, and the .33 is one that was given to me by someone on the server... I think it was Absol_13, but it was a little while ago. I got it to work on a different server so we played that for a little bit, but then they both went to sleep, so I joined them in another of my eternal slumbers.

With the Master Servers down, nwn servers must provide their own security now. Our security involves having a unique CD KEY and associates it with the account. So each player must have a unique cd key to login. If someone else is using your key, they cannot log to our server as it knows your key is associated with your account (username) and will not permit the login.

It _sounds_ like you might have three unique keys there. are your friends ini files updated to use those unique keys?

That key I gave you (can re-send if you wish, incase it was taken down wrong) is unique- i've not used it or given out(cept to you) It was one from the first release of the game(the huge 200 page manual.)

I basically go Key hunting, where I scan the internet for keys and put them all in designated piles and mix and match until they work. If you could tell me who is already linked to each of those keys, it'd be nice. You could also tell me if their already banned or something.

If you got it from GOG, or not, doesn't matter, it's just a .ini file that tells the game (and server) what the key is. Copy and paste whatever key works there in the .ini file (or something similar). Whichever format it is it will be readable with a text editor and have a key for all 3 games.

Be really careful in sharing keys as they could get hacked. I have seen a few people been victims of such which caused them no end of headaches, especially if they play more than one server. I always save my keys on external drives, actually my whole game as I have had to change computers a few times.
