Fighter/Cleric Deity Level Bug

I'm marking this as a partially tested bug, though it needs confirmation.

I have a Human - fighter/cleric with a lawful/good alignment

Though I was able to level up ok with my fighter levels. It refused to let me take my cleric levels. After remembering what I did with the Paladin I looked up deities and chose Finshi and set the cleric domains appropriately. I tried to level up again and that went through ok, however when it came to the next cleric level it told me something along the lines that I was unfavoured by my deity and dropped my level. So... confused by it all I created another test character with the same build, though I set it with a neutral alignment and tried again. Same thing happened, it refused to let me levelup and selecting a deity/domain did not help.

Thoughts???

seek the favor of your deity by worshiping at their temple frequently and by serving your diety as in quests, etc. This increases your favor with the god.
