LISTEN UP! Stop listening to me.

Post  GM_ODA on Tue Dec 16, 2014 10:29 pm

As a feature to make the TALKing NPCs listen or stop listening to a PC's TALK channel.

Suggested by new PLAYER BenevolentDevil (thank you!)

Are you trying to say theta someone who doesn't appreciate the endless string of nonsense created by the Spirit Guide? That's how I get my RP exp when I'm alone on the server Very Happy

It was more a practical request. It's fine if alone. But Rp Is diffcult when others are present and in earshot.
I imagine it spams The script Base as well.

Very Happy

As a feature - it would be helpful to be able to turn it off IF the PLAYER DESIRES - I advocate that it should be left on by default, but should be very easy to make it a PLAYER usable switch. As noted, if PCs want to RP some exchange near the chatty NPC, this switch would make that RP a bit cleaner and less interrupted by the NPC. I wonder if we should 'strip the flag' from the PC with area changes, so that you are only able to turn it off 'in the current area' with the normal NPC interaction resuming when you enter a new area?

Feedback on the concepts here please?

Heh, I was joking. It does get tedious when two people are trying to interact and there's a third wheel.

I agree in regards to the spirit guide. If possible just have him like an npc who gives general information if asked.

You'd loose out on a lot of interactivity if you take out chat responses though- especially when it comes to secrets or passwords. But I agree that having NPCs like the spirit guide and certain barkeeps have a 'shut up' and 'hey listen' code XD
