Hunger thirst fatigue
First of all. The change you can do with the runestone to make it so that the autoemotes disappear is great.
I think that the system is good for the roleplay experience and immersion. Ultimately however it is a big bother. Constantly having to stop rp to run away and get sleep or grab food is a handful of not fun. It would be alot better if you regained much more from takign one bite. Maybe fill your bar in four bites rather than having to eat 10 bites. Eating is a huge timeconsumer when people just want to roleplay. It works perfectly alright when you run around killing monsters and have to rest from time to time.
Roleplaying in nwn and being in character takes a lot more time than it than the in game clock turns. Something that takes 30 minutes to roleplay could be 10 minutes IC-time and half a day ingame time. With IC time I mean that when you roleplay and emote detailed descriptions of your actions you are basically micromanaging time. You can write an emote taking 2 minutes that plays out in a split second. These are extreme cases but even if you are roleplaying in a pretty good speed, emoting frequently and with smaller emotes you will find that IC time is much much slower than the in-game clock.
My suggestion is that either in game time is altered so that each hour is much longer.
Or that the HTF bars degeneration is slowed quite a bit.
Also I would like to suggest that food and drink raises the HTF bars faster (I know this has been suggested before but its a good suggestion).
And finally I'd like to see the htf bars not threaten to kill you when they are still green. I haven't seen the red level in ages because my character is fainting or dying when she is in the green.

First of all, I agree with the hassle of leaving RP to get food and drink, however I came up with two solutions that I've been using for a while.
1: RP in the Inn.
2: Say your going to go do something privately, Tony often said "I'm gonna go water that tree " and then dissapear to the Hall of The Gods, where you can rest eat and drink oocly real quick.
3:Play a mage that is known for disappearing randomly

We've been roleplaying in the barracks lately and its just a few feet to the stars up. Would be nice if there was easily accessible food nearby though.Ragdoll_Knight wrote:First of all, I agree with the hassle of leaving RP to get food and drink, however I came up with two solutions that I've been using for a while.

Low constitution is terrible. I've had to grab con-gear but con-gear doesn't seem to help. Can the HTF please be made so that it is affected by con-gear (if its not) please please please? That way I don't have to take ooc breaks three times per rp scene so I dont die randomly or start fainting. o.o'
It'd be worth just putting the con gear on whilst roleplaying and then using other equipment when you're not.

What is your PC's stats for CON, and STR? How much GEAR (weight) are you lugging around? What armor are you wearing?

Re: Hunger thirst fatigue
Let me first say that the HTF bars don't bother me, except at certain times. If I'm RPing with a slow typer, or someone with a bad connection, or someone who has to go AFK for a while, I have OOCly rest and eat and drink or I die waiting for them. And then there's times where the bars go real slow, and Kross only has to eat and drink maybe once a day. That might be too slow, but it allowed me to flawlessly RP Kross going off to find something to eat and drink when he needed it, and I think that's what the purpose of the bars is, to add more to RP. However, other times those bars drop like stones in a pond. Right to the bottom. In a RL minute, Kross would lose two bars, and if the bar ever got even a little into the yellow, he'd be falling down asleep for a few seconds, or getting damaged for being hungry. I mean yeah, hunger pains hurt... but only after 1/3 of the bar gone? Maybe in the red zone...
But don't lengthen the hours, I think they're perfect as they are. In one RP session for me, I can see an entire day go by. And we don't want day and night to last a long time, since some characters depend on the day or night for RP purposes, and everyone seems to feel good with the time ratio aside from their bars bottoming out.
The problem stems from the three different "time zones" of RP. This is important!
RP Time - The amount of time that goes by with regards to emotes.
IG Time - The time that goes by on the game clock.
RL Time - The actual amount of time it takes by real life standards.
As an example, I have Kross pumping water into a bucket to put out a small fire, and type something like:
"The big man moves the pump level up and down in a panic. Before long the water splashes out and completely misses the buucket* Damns! This thing is getting old! *He repositions the bucket and pumps again, finally filling it up* Outta the way everyone! *Kross runs with the bucket, sloshing water as he goes. Eventually the bucket is upturned over the small blaze, and the smoke of defeat rises*
How much time went by in each of the time zones for that? Let's take a look.
RP Time - About half a minute. It doesn't take long to fill a bucket from a pump, and Kross was in quite a hurry.
IG Time - I probably would need 2-3 posts for all that, and then wait to see how others react before continuing. Add in the time to actually run around the pump, and taking into account the slowest person around, about an hour went by.
RL Time - It took me about five minutes to type that up, and maybe one more to run around where I need to go.
You see? In RP time, Kross got that fire out in a hurry, IG he might as well have not tried at all. RL wasn't bad though.
When you try to have those three work together, problems are going to happen. A simple emote exchange can take seconds in RP and hours IG and half an hour of real time. Right now, the bars are set to IG time, which is the quickest of the three by a lot. If you engage in RP, you're going to need to eat and drink and rest every five RP minutes. That totally drags it down, and makes it less fun for everyone involved. (Including DMs) So I propose we set the bars to another time zone, maybe your character has to eat every two hours of RL time?
