I use to play nwn for years and I am trying to get it going again. I downloaded the game off of gog.com because my original doesn't work on anything above windows XP.
When I try and connect to multi player after putting in my user name and password it sits at "Authorizing Player Name" for a little bit then tells me "Could not connect to Master server, some multiplayer services may not be available." No servers appear in the tab at all, but when i try and direct connect to this server it lets me make a character and then tells me server timed out after a black screen for about 30 seconds.
Any idea what the problem is here and why I can't connect to the multiplayer of the game?
Please help, me and 2 other friends are trying to get back into the game.

Welcome back to NWN!
I can help you.
First, downloaded NWN from gog.com - all downloads are the same - right down to the CD KEY and this is what is likely keeping you from being able to connect to the server (it thinks you are using a key it already knows ... like an impostor and boots you). Not a problem - go to gog.com, do a search on their page for
nwn cd key
It will give you a page with a short instruction on it about how to contact gog.com to get a custom key. THAT key needs to replace the cd keys you find in the game's ini files. If you need help with this, ask and I'll give you specific instructions.
Also, be sure you have the CEP (Community Expansion Project - 2.1 or better). This is a HAK pack for nwn made by the community, it can be found on our downloads page at
If you have ANY other questions, just ask, we are happy to help.
Hope to see you online soon friend!
Be well. Game on.
