Sometime in the last 12 hours, the gamespy systems that assemble listings of nwn servers to the nwnmain.exe (nwn launch software) ceased to function. The list formerly seen under the INTERNET tab is now empty. No word on the reason or when/if the service will be restored.
For those wishing to play multiplayer nwn on ArgentumRegio use the following instructions:
Navigate to C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN where you will need to find the nwmain.exe program, right click it and COPY. Next navigate to your desktop, right click on the background and PASTE AS SHORTCUT. Now you need to edit the shortcut you just created, right click the new shortcut and select PROPERTIES. Within properties locate the NAME and change that to ArgentumRegio, then locate the TARGET and change it to read:
To PLAY NEVERWINTERNIGHTS edit the shortcut target to read:
nwmain.exe +connect 126.96.36.199
To Dungeon Master Neverwinter Nights edit the shortcut target to read:
nwmain.exe -dmc +connect 188.8.131.52 +password SecretDMPassword
Last, close the properties and your shortcut to ArgentumRegio should work - double click it to test.
It may well be up to WE THE COMMUNITY to carry the torch for NWN. Soon, with the release of PHASE TWO of neverwinterconnections.com we will be enabling a similar list of servers which can replace the defunct GAMESPY system. This list will be created from the old NWC list of servers as well as new input, and will automatically poll each listed system to determine status.
But now and for the foreseeable future, gamespy listings in NWN software are history.
Be well. Game on.
