casting call for upcoming event

I am learning more and more about the DM tools, and i'm working on my first event (building in toolset). I am planning something that will be probably be best in the 3-4 player party range, but depending on interest will be shifted appropriately. Anyone interested in participating just let me know here, so that I can tailor the encounters and challenges to the levels/strengths of those involved (For maximum enjoyment ). Also I'll do my best to coordinate getting everyone online at a given time. As long as she's not busy, Fenril said she would CO-DM with me.

Brief Details: There will be plenty of RP but also expect a good deal of action. There will be some travelling and then a good ol "dungeon crawl" style adventure though whether or not it is in an actual dungeon is yet to be seen . That is the most specific I can get so as not to give away the good parts, but if you have RP'ed with me then you will have -some- idea of what to expect. Trying to get this going around the beginning/middle of next week.

EDIT: I'm not sure yet how long the event will be, but I'd say be able to set aside about 2 hours for it

What type of levels are you looking for?

I'd say between 15 and 25 would be ideal, though I would consider higher/lower depending on who is interested. I want to keep things challenging for players without having to make them ridiculously hard.

Elrania, my elven ranger, would be pretty keen on this. My laptop fizzled a few days ago, but I'm getting my stuff (including my desktop ) shipped down very soon.

Normally my play times are weekdays between 8 am (Mountain Time) and 12:30 or 2:10 Pm, with an hour break or so. And open again at 11.

I could make something and level it to around the required level... I wish clerics weren't so botched here because I would love to play one. *Hint hint.* xD

Ok Rag, I'll count you in unless you tell me otherwise. Eve, you are welcome to join us, so I'll assume you're going to make that character . I'll check in with you a little closer to the event date to see how you're doing.

I feel your pain Eve. Arcane casters take a level in the chosen class, grab a few spells, rest, and they're good to go. Divine casters... not so much. I think they have to pray to their god, and then rest, and then do a secret handshake with the gnome on the corner of a street. I'm not totally sure, but I know it's more than just resting to get spells back. I always imagine that when a divine caster rests, it's implied they automatically pray before sleeping.... since why would you skip a maximum five minute affair of praying when the penalty is not getting your spells back the next morning? That's silly. Maybe if the scripts for divine casters resting caused the character to kneel and pray for a minute before the actual rest happens, that'd be a bit better and easier to deal with, so we can get more divine casters on the server. And we all want more clerics, especially when you become a lycan and need to be cured. Eri and I would have been screwed if ODA hadn't showed up and created a cleric just for that.

Anyway, to get back on topic, this event sounds like a great way to give Krossy an extra level or three, so count me in!

Ok guys, I'm really looking forward to this. Hopefully we will get one or two more people in the next couple of days and we will be set. I am building away and should be done with the new areas soon. I'm thinking probably end of the week for the event, given the time it will take for me to send everything to Oda and have him add it in. As far as a time commitment, I'm predicting 2-3 hours. I am doing my very best not to let it go over 3.

Please let me know what days and times work best for everyone. I know I've seen all of you online plenty so we should be able to work this out. The best for me would be sometime between thursday and sunday, either late afternoon or night (EST).

Did you factor in time for RP and stuff? Lol

On the topic of clerics I guess you need to have an altar around to more effectively raise your divine favor. If your deity has no altar you can ask a dm to give you a figurine that you can use to pray to between rests. You also need to hold a holy symbol to cast spells. I think that lowers the cost of divine favor possibly, not sure how it works. Thing is that most clerics are shield-clerics since they are like half caster half fighter. It would be great if you could choose which hand to hold the holy symbol in though. Or if you could channel your divine magic through a shield or the deities favored weapon maybe as to take away this ridiculous requirement of holding a holy symbol. <.<'

On Arelith the system is less harsh but still pretty good. The god has like a constant presence and a constant power. Except these change, but what I meant by constant is that the god grants their clerics what powers they have but its the clerics responsibility to raise this power. Basically they donate money to their church and up goes Divine Favor. Casting spells of level 6 or higher causes the divine favor of that god to go down a bit - serverwide. You also can pray and something useful is supposed to happen but that chosts exp, which is annoying on a server like arelith where you are lucky to gain 300 exp on one long adventure in a crypt.

Interesting Eve, interesting. I'll start a topic on this in the suggestions section and we can all discuss them there, so we can stop hijacking Ada's thread.

Anyway, I'm in East Coast USA time, which I think is GMT -5. I'm busy from around 5 am to about 1pm, but other than that, I'm mostly free.

Ok well I am most concerned about this being a FUN adventure and not rushing things...so If we need to push it back, that is a possibility. I'd rather do that than spend all this time building to run an event with 2 people.

Aye, as do I. Wasn't expecting to be so busy this week, I guess it's a reality check that all my free time lately is slowly coming to an end. In the meantime...level up folks! And I will do my best to put in enough time to make this adventure a quality one.

No I don't. I'm level 14 now with my char and the level req was 15, right? If we don't play soon I might be level 30.

15-20 is ideal. So if you hit 20 play something else.

Elrania is, and probably will be, level 8/9 for a looong time, for balance, but don't worry about her survival, I can keep up with anything you can throw at us. Unless we start fighting against something holy that is.
